Thursday: my trade sanctions partner at work is away for a while due to childbirth, so I got to spend most of the day catching us up and trying to get ahead in preparation for my training day tomorrow. I also had an interview with one of our talent team regarding my interest in a new internal position. I don't want to speculate on my odds, but I would have the same supervisor in my new position, and she's the one who sent me the notification about the job opening.
During my lunch break, Julie got home from the airport, so she updated me on the details of her trip that she hadn't already relayed via text message. She ended up spending the rest of the day on the sofa with a headache, so after work, I went to the gym by myself. When I got home and showered, I had some of my orzo for dinner while watching more Roottrees videos. Just as I was trying to decide what to play for the evening, I saw that Ryan had sent a message reporting that he had a new game to test, so I spent 80 minutes playing through it. I can't talk about it until after the Interactive Fiction Spring Thing Festival, but I was very amused and impressed. After I played (and uploaded a recording of my playthrough to send to Ryan), we spent a while talking about the two bugs I found and how the various elements worked. The experience of playing it was different from a lot of interactive fiction in a really dramatic way, so it was helpful to take some extra time afterwards to review everything in detail and think through the parts I'd misunderstood or which I'd initially overlooked. I'm really looking forward to seeing the annotated source code for this one.
Tuesday: Another workday, and another night of Poirot episodes. (This season seems to all be movie-length, which is unfortunate because they don't hold my attention as well, so I tend to drift off.) We finished the leftover chili for dinner.
Monday: partway through my workday, I posted the following sentences on my web forum.
"When I first started my job and was in training last year, I had a nice 8 to 5 M-Fri schedule, hour lunches; everything was perfect.
"Starting in January I had to participate in a shift bid, and the shift I wound up with 10 to 6:30, Thu-Monday. This was pretty gross since the mid-week weekend meant it would be tough to schedule activities with Julie, so when the opportunity for a backfill bid came up, I put in a bid on a bunch of schedules that would keep me from having to work the weekend. It seemed like this failed, though, as my schedule never changed.
"In the weeks since, we've gotten adjusted to my new schedule, as it provides a couple of advantages: I can do a midweek grocery run, or I could schedule a doctor's appointment without needing to worry about the timing or taking PTO. That was the idea, anyway, but in practice I never quite got around to that, which is a shame because maybe I could have finally done something about that ADHD diagnosis I got as a kid.
"Today, I found out that one of my bids did get accepted after all: Monday to Friday, 12:30 to 9pm. This is somehow the worst of both worlds: Julie made commitments for her Saturdays since I wasn't available, and our weekday schedules mean we basically have no time together, other than Sundays." It's obnoxious.
Since I was already at work, I put in an overtime segment to get some extra hours on my project. I was really looking forward to having tomorrow and Wednesday off, particularly so I could go shopping, but I'll just go before my shift on Wednesday. In the interim, I caught up on all my podcasts and kind of bounced around possibilities for a new one. I had leftover meatballs for dinner, and I'll see if I can maybe vacuum tomorrow morning.

Wednesday: seems like Julie was having a lazy day at home, based on the photo she uploaded in which Mim is napping on her while she lounges on the sofa with her laptop.

Saturday: hanging with Jason at Magfest today. Outside the hotel, we found our way to a Peeps-branded mascot vehicle.

Friday: misplaced my phone at 2:00 AM, but within another two hours, I found it again in the pocket of some pants I'd been wearing earlier.
