Friday: our day started with Ximena's quesadillas. We had more errands to run, so Carl drove us to the craft store for bouquet supplies. We stopped into Dillons for groceries; I spent the entire shopping trip half-convinced that I could recognize every stranger we walked past as somebody from school or church. I picked up two containers of garlic salt for Julie as well as a case of sugar free cherry-flavor Dr Pepper. Apparently Emit, Hailey, and Everhett were staying on Dry Creek Drive in Derby; we met up to say hello to the family before Emit joined us for our morning tasks. We had to run to Costco for ice and snacks, but Carl couldn't find the snacks he wanted; we just bought two bags of ice instead.

Carl had a bunch of old chairs in his garage that needed to have the old feet removed, to be cleaned, to have new pads attached in place of the old feet so they wouldn't scratch the new flooring, and (in two cases) to have bolts tightened so weren't at risk of falling apart. I focused on spraying them with dust cleaner and wiping them down after Carl and Emit got the feet off. Once that was finished, we came in for lunch with Ximena and her family; we all enjoyed the drinks and conversation, plus a number of candid and posed photos.

The old friend group started to assemble with Cameron's arrival, but we soon also had Everhett and Hailey along with Craig and Richard, though Hailey had another engagement this weekend, so she didn't stick around. Everhett especially enjoyed the attention he got at lunch, but eventually a couple of us brought him downstairs so he could give us a tour while the rest of the adults finished eating and talking. Eventually we got him set up playing Mario Odyssey and similar games while the rest of the group got Arkham Horror set up, though he ended up joining us with an investigator of his own halfway through.

We couldn't finish the game before people needed to start heading for bed. Craig, Carl, Richard, and I stayed up long enough for a couple of games of "The Shipwreck Arcana," which is a cooperative deduction game that I particularly enjoyed. They turned in, and I caught up on these updates before I fell asleep myself.

Thursday: somehow, I managed to completely fail to post an update for today, and I didn't attempt to correct this until more than a month later. While I can't remember the details of anything I did, I know I posted two comments on reddit today. From the first comment, I see that we're speculating about the possibility that the upcoming mini-set for Hearthstone would provide the Imbue ability to classes that didn't have it previously. I speculated that if rogues were to gain this option, their imbue effect might be to return one of their minions to their hand, and to reduce the cost by 1 mana (or more, based on the number of times they've triggered the imbue effect). The second comment was in response to a question about Groundhog Day-style time-loops in interactive fiction games. I was able to remind Brian Rushton about the existence of Andrew Pontius's Rematch as an example of puzzle-centric one-move games. I did not post on either selectbutton or the brontoforums on this date.

Wednesday: I had a productive day working on projects during my shift today, and afterwards we finished the leftover tofu stir fry. We watched the latest episode of Ghosts and some Bob's Burgers, though we both fell asleep a little while after we finished eating. Oh, I also watched this supercut of Joseph Anderson trying to bring one of the trolley props from early Half Life 2 to the end of the game. I stayed up too late for no good reason.

IS THE COUGH STILL HERE? YES

2023

Monday: back at work, and my new project continues. Mim felt like coming into the office a couple times while I Was working, despite John obviously sleeping on the bed. Watched a bunch of ARR content from a Final Fantasy XIV playthrough, going through the Company of Heroes questline as well as The Rising. We had leftover curry for dinner, and I watched a couple of Hearthstone videos prior to the big Festival of Legends launch tomorrow. Also kind of got caught up in the Deltarune soundtrack such that I didn't do any of the programming I'd planned, but who cares?

Sunday: another early shift for Julie today. I hung out with the cats and played more Dragon Age until she got home. We went to the store where I got milk + cereal, and for dinner we had reheated meatloaf, asparagus, and potatoes while watching the first five episodes of Twin Peaks on Netflix.

While snacking on sunflower seeds, I got a splinter stuck in my gums. I tried brushing my teeth, flossing, chewing gum, drinking lots of water, but nothing moved it for a really long time.

Saturday: Julie's friend Laura uploaded a bunch of photos to facebook of the party they hosted when we visited them in Michigan.
