Saturday: when Julie woke me up this morning, she just wanted me to turn off the alarm on my phone which had been in my pyjama pockets. In my unconsciousness, I didn't recognize this, and instead I clocked into work an hour early by mistake. I figured it out pretty quickly, though.
My work shift required a more active review of situations during my chat support requests, so I got less done during my project time. Fortunately, my responsibilities have shifted as well. On my main project, I am now handling reworks solely on my own, but I no longer need to work new groups. I prefer this breakdown, I think.
After work, I came out to the living room to hang out with Julie for a bit, but I mostly just drowsed on the sofa thanks to my poor sleep schedule. Julie joked I was going to fall asleep as soon as she left for her girls' night, but after she left, I got up to vacuum the bedrooms and eat my salad for dinner while catching up in Fallen London. I had planned to start working on Moondrop Isle next—I joked to David in a text message that this is "crunch week supreme" since we want the game to be feature-complete on the 27th—but John wanted attention, so I followed him out to the living room instead... where I soon fell asleep on the sofa, as predicted.
I woke up a few hours later, and since it was after ten, I treated the cats. I'd wanted to give them more lickable treats, but it looks like I used up all but one stick, so I opened a can of tuna instead, which has momentarily sated the savage beasts.
Getting on the computer to resume my work, I was surprised to find that a friend felt I was owed some pixel art, so I now have a new avatar on cohost. Having written that cohost update plus this calendar entry, it's now time for me to resume Moondrop Isle work for real.
IS THE COUGH STILL HERE? NO! Very excited by this.
Thursday: had an awful time sleeping last night, which wasn't helped by staying up later to shave. Mim wouldn't settle down, and just as I was starting to drift off, she scratched and bit my arm with ferocity. Once I got to sleep, I built an edifice out of tiles, many of which were trapped, and the worst of these was a solid red plate, a crushing device, but I could see there would be more detail if I used perfect vision. Perfect vision of the plate's horror triggered an instantaneous eruption of blood from my mouth, and I immediately woke, just two hours after I'd fallen asleep.
Feels like I've got a cold, or at least my sinuses are productive. work was alright; John appreciates the fluffy pillowcase I've started keeping on my desk, but he still wants a lot more attention than I can give him throughout the workday. The streams I like to follow haven't updated this week, so I was a little out-of-sorts while having the Mongolian-style spicy udon Julie made for dinner.
Continuing to progress in RVAFF. I didn't realize that the woods are a procedural space comprising 2,500 rooms in one corner of the map. I should stop trying to map them until I've got clues that actually send me there.

Saturday: we went to my cousin Cade's wedding today. I forget where it took place exactly, beyond being in a town in rural Kansas, but I can at least remember how out-of-place we felt. (There weren't too many people from our branch of the family, and it was a pretty dressed down event. I was wearing jeans and flannel, and this attire was on the more formal side of the spectrum on display.) The highlight for me was the presence of DOT'S HOMESTLE PRETZELS on the tables at the reception, which were previously unknown to me. I kept going back for more.

An update from Julie on her livejournal account:
"I have a love affair with Tudor style homes. (At least I think that is what they are called... I did a google image search and didn't really see what I am thinking of - either way similar to this.) I really want to live in one. I'm pretty sure our house in Detroit was a tudor. I think they are just gorgeous and to me they feel more inviting than a brand new house. This is probably because they have been lived in for 80-100 years. :) We went to a coworker's house the other night and she had a walk in pantry! I about had a heart attack. I can't wait to have a pantry.
"All I know is that the house I end up in will NOT have those ugly plastic awnings over every window. Those things drive me nuts; they are so irritating to me.
"I received my weekly issue of Time on Saturday and of course I read it right away. The cover story was all about people being frugal, or something along those lines. They talked to one guy who is a financial aid advisor at some college that costs 50K a year for tuition. He was saying how parents are so upset that their kids cannot afford to go to the school anymore due to the parents finances, or the lack of grants available, etc. etc. I had absolutely no sympathy for these people. Federal loans are an option. Sure, you have to pay them back, but they are an option. Also, does your child really need to go to a school that costs 50K a year? Unless that school offers the only program in some obscure subject your child wants to study, there is no reason. Send them to community college for a year or two. Send them to a state school. I just, I don't know, can't sympathize with them.
"This Volvo with "city safety" looks amazing but I can't even imagine how much it costs. Luckily Bessie is still going strong so I shouldn't even have to think about a new car for a few more years.
"Changing the litter is such an ordeal now. Why can't Gus use a litterbox like a normal cat?
[She then posts a series of photos with captions. I can't find the photos, but the captions continue below.]
[A missing image of a forlorn-looking cat. Julie's comment is a little bit of a downer with the benefit of hindsight regarding Gus's feline diabetes.]
"Jason and I refer to this as when Gus gives up on life. It makes me giggle uncontrollably when I come down the hall to this staring me in the face.
[Another missing image of the same cat, faceplanted into the pillow he's lying on this time.]
"It's even better when he shoves his face into the couch. I really wonder how well he can breathe like that. Then again, I can hear him breathing from across the room when he's just chilling, so whatever. It can't be healthy.
[A missing photo of Gus lying in a bathroom sink.]
"One day after a shower Gus was discovered to have made himself comfortable in the sink. Needless to say he pretty much took up the entire thing. 13 pounds, he's a big boy!
[A missing photo of Gus lying on his back, belly exposed.]
"He is constantly exposing himself to us.
[A missing photo of Gus and Angel facing each other while sitting on the back of the sofa. I have perched my head in the middle between them.]
"Two kitties and the disembodied head of my wonderful boyfriend. :)
"Oh it just kills me with cuteness when the two kitties are sleeping near each other either on the back of the loveseat or the bed. And when they roll around in the sun on the porch! So cute!"
