Saturday: spent the morning wondering when the plumber was going to show up to stop the leak on the 2nd floor, but he wound up being a no-show. Once we heard the upstairs tenant leave for the day, we decided to do the same. We had a late lunch at Taco Bell, got more toilet supplies at Home Depot, and got our groceries. I had prescriptions ready for pickup at the other Acme, and while we were there, we updated our immunizations: flu shots and COVID-19, Pfizer version. Once we got back home, I got the litter (though all the litterboxes are in weird locations to accommodate the much-delayed plumber), but I didn't take out much trash since it wouldn't make sense to vacuum until we could clear out all the towels in the bedroom. Instead, Julie and I replaced the toilet drain valve, flapper, and seat. We also took the opportunity to take down the old shower curtain and used it to shield the bed from the spreading ceiling-rain. While I was struggling to get old valve and flapper detached, Julie chopped up my vegetables for dinner, so it didn't take much time to make the vegetable pasta with feta. We ate in the living room while watching the last five episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. Julie joked that I seemed more attentive than usual when the mirror universe episodes came up, plus the final episode's gimmick was tailor-made to draw my interest. After the show, I spent the night in the office, since Julie had to sleep on my side of the bed due to the leak issue.

Friday: Julie was stuck on a call when a cat fight in the hallway woke me up around noon. A survey of the locals indicated that Mim had disappeared somewhere in the basement, so Julie and I took turns exploring the rooms down there throughout the afternoon to try to locate her. I even climbed into the crawlspace, despite being unable to find my kneepads, but there was no sign of her. It was a huge relief when she turned up, seemingly none the worse for wear. Searching the basemeent is a lot less troubling than searching the neighborhood whenever we thought a cat might have gotten out without our knowledge, but I'd still prefer to live somewhere without a crumbling cellar with a rickety old crawlspace.

For lunch, all I had was a bowl of cereal, after which I did the dishes, then started chopping vegetables for dinner. I hadn't bought enough zucchini for the orzo recipe I was following, but I had twice the volume of onion required, and I included some breakfast sausage as a side dish. I suggested we each do our own thing as it was pretty late by the time dinner was ready, but I mostly just watched youtube videos. The latest Castle Super Beast podcast episode has me a little curious to try playing Satisfactory, so I picked that up tonight, and I also need to buy my plane ticket for the meetup in October before I go to bed.

Wednesday: after returning from the gym, I spent a while just standing in the bathroom doorway and reviewing my reflection, trying to decide if a majority of my stubble had gone grey yet. It was true of the hair along my jawline and cheeks, but the hair around my mouth is more brown than not. I forgot to shave after finishing my shower.

At work, I got through all of last week and most of this week's weekly project, but I've been assigned to support ten employees who've just been added to the ongoing accounting project, so my attention on the weekends is going to be more split than usual. I did get some corrections to my cruise request submitted for November, though.

When I was done with work, we walked to City Fitness. The air was cool and pleasant. I spent my workout reading blog updates I'd fallen behind on along with a Castle Balderstone Club Floyd transcript.

Once we were back home and cleaned up, we finished the leftover cashew chicken with broccoli and rice while watching the last couple of episodes of Derry Girls. I ended up reading about the Good Friday agreement and subsequent developments for a while before dangling the cat string for Cliff, Juice, and Pigs. (Juice has some kind of scab matted in the hair on the back of her head. No evidence about who got her that bad, so I'm just going to assume it was Goose.)

Once Julie went to bed, I brought my laptop back to the office, wrote this update, and decided to wear my braces to bed, as my wrists have been burning as I typed this.
