Monday: last day of work before my big winter vacation! I put my status as available for a couple of hours at the start and end of my shift, but we didn't have many calls coming in, so I was able to work a lot of my emails, even outside of my Assign time. There was a dusting of frost on the top of the parked cars on our street, so once work was over, we put on multiple jackets before walking to Monday night Quizzo. Rachel was joining us again, but unfortunately, so were the extended families of half of south Philly. We ended up standing around in the entryway, waiting more than an hour for a table to open up. We were eventually seated near the restroom, but our trivia performance was pretty bad. (Julie told us that if we'd used our bonus in the second round when she'd meant to, we would have tied for 1st place at that point, but I don't think we scored well enough in the later rounds for that to have mattered.) Dinner was nice, even if they were short on croutons. I missed that pizza.
The evening got a lot more exciting after we got home: I signed into World of Warcraft, where I successfully finished the second half of the secret objectives to obtain "Incognitro," a hidden fel-infused motorcycle mount. It seems like the "Ratt's Revenge" dungeon isn't finished, though; only nine of the twelve pillars received an illuminating orb. I've still got a few objectives to complete before the anniversary event goes away on January 7, but I'm happy with the progress I'm making.
Saturday: ...and continuing from yesterday, the flight from Colorado Springs was a success! It was a little uncomfortable because I was stuck in the middle seat, and you'd only get in-flight concessions if you paid, so I tried to lose as much consciousness as I could, though that part didn't work out so well. By the time we arrived in Philadelphia, it was after 5 AM, and I could feel some sort of infection had manifested in my sinuses and throat. By the time we got to the baggage carousel, I was feeling pretty miserable. I thought we'd have to wait for a ride, but an Uber driver told us his ride had canceled, so we made an arrangement and got dropped off at home pretty quickly.
The cats were glad to see us, but I only had time to say hello to everyone and to resolve their most egregious issues before I got my CPAP plugged back in and crashed for a while. After I awoke, Julie wanted to get to Acme before they got too busy, so we ran by Taco Bell for lunch before we went shopping. It wasn't as busy as I feared it might be, though the grapes were in poor condition, so I'm going without, this week. After we got home and put all the stuff away, I got set up in the living room to lie on the floor while catching up on my laptop activities. Julie made her stir-fry udon pasta for dinner, and we just watched Bob's Burgers while convalescing in the living room. The cats appreciated the opportunity to enjoy our presence. I watched more youtube videos rating the flags of states and provinces as well as some Cine2nerdle show matches from people with much stronger grasp of movie casts than I have, but after midnight, I tried to add the updates I'd missed for the past day or two. Now, it's nearly 2:30, so I should go to bed for my big day back at work tomorrow.
Friday: I'm cold and tired. Back to work today, but the extreme cold's got me down. We've got to be losing a lot of heat through the kitchen in the back of our apartment: it's an addition to the row house, it's not insulated very well, and I can feel heat escaping out of the back window over the sink. I cooked Julie's tortellini recipe for the first time in something like ten years, but watching Joseph Anderson's Life is Strange: Before the Storm stream was kind of a drag because the prequel's constraints necessitate such dismal outcomes. Gotta get up early for shopping tomorrow, so just a short update tonight.
