Friday: my dreamscape depicted several service industry workplaces, including a retail supervisor at a Walmart-like store where I put on a green Father Christmas costume for the holiday and a Zoo/animal preserve underwater photography extra, which is to say I would accompany groups on underwater tours, point out things to observe, and participate in pictures with people who wanted an extra body. I'm sure there was more than that, but as I stayed in bed until after 8 AM, the details jumbled together and were lost as I cleaned up cat vomit in the bathtub and on my workdesk. There's still enough time for me to post yesterday's update, at least.
Had a productive day at work in which I finally caught up on my rework groups. I'm probably going to have to spend some time working on the weekend on my new groups, though. On breaks, I watched a little Blue Prince as well as the JADSEYA 2025 awards ceremony. David called again when my shift was over, and we caught each other up on our weeks. Julie advised she'd eaten the remainder of the soup, so I had my share of the vegetable pasta for dinner... though I didn't end up eating until almost 9, as the awards stream substantially disrupted my ability to accomplish anything in the evening. After that, I treated the cats and went to bed.
IS THE 12/30/25 COUGH STILL HERE? YES, although not as bad as the past couple of days.
Thursday: it's once again WAVE season, meaning high volume calls. I did have around 4 hours of workload to spend on trade sanctions emails, and the calls I got weren't too bad, but I will still be excited for this period to end. After my shift, we had some of the cabbage stew (?) leftovers, and since it was my night to watch a streamer, I put twitch on one stream while I leveled up in FFXI. I hit 18 and picked up the quest to unlock subjobs, though I should probably focus on unlocking the Echoes of Vana'diel quest series so the game gets less cumbersome to play. We plan to go to the gym tomorrow, though I don't think we have anything else scheduled for our weekend.
Tuesday: much like last year, the call volume wasn't overwhelming. I had little breaks throughout the day. We had the last of the ziti for dinner, and we watched more Murder, She Wrote. I didn't bother bringing my laptop out to the living room, but I did have an unexpectedly long text message exchange with my uncle Roger. Julie got out the New York skyline puzzle we've never completed and decided to try assembling it on the coffee table, and despite attention from Mim, the process was less of a catastrophe than I expected. However, this puzzle is a lot harder than the one we did in Colorado, so I wasn't much help. After she went to bed, I went to the office to work on my project, but I wound up just crashing on the bed and making it an early night. I didn't even get this update posted into the following afternoon.
Monday: first day back after the break. High call volume, but relatively low complexity calls, mercifully. Finished the chicken ziti for lunch. We thought Phil might come by to pick up Cliff after his week out of town, but he didn't get out of New York in time, so we're keeping him for at least another day. Dinner was pork cutlets with roast potatoes, and we played more Civ VI. Our first game was overrun by barbarians, so I disabled that feature before our second game on an inland sea map in which I squandered an early lead as Hungary before repeated invasions by Mali. After dinner, I watched an Outer Wilds LP for a bit before posting this update.

Plans for New Year's Eve fell apart, which is probably for the best. We did wind up going by our friends' new house to pick up moving boxes on Friday. Saturday and Sunday were supposed to be miserably cold, so rather than store the boxes, I just propped them against every door to the apartment as a makeshift draft break. We've basically spent the entire weekend barricaded inside. We watched a lot of YouTube and most of the first season of The Witcher. It was an incredibly unproductive weekend, and I loved it.

Friday: my sister Kelly uploaded a photo to facebook depicting Julie and I on Christmas morning. I guess we spent the night at my parents' house in Derby. This was the year Julie got me the Achewood apron, hot sauce, and recipe book. I look awful in this photo.
