Wednesday: woke up several times from several dreams. In one, I went back in time to a forum meetup at a conference where Zara was presenting on some math and technology topic. In another, I was working retail when a major marketing push began for a new hybrid device that was part word processor, part television, part media library, but even a cursory review of the features showed that the thing was worse at any particular function than a dedicated device would be. Like, you couldn't just watch TV with it; you specifically had to watch NYPD Blue, because it was "blue themed," for some reason. It looked like those not-quite-laptop screens from Star Trek. I got up just before 7 to update my website. Logged into WoW for some Lemix leveling, but still didn't quite hit max with my rogue. At work, I struggled to make progress on rework groups. I listened to the Castle Super Beast podcast on my breaks, plus more Blue Prince over lunch, and I also followed the initial reveals for the "Across the Timeways" miniset reveal for Hearthstone. I'm glad they're adding imbue to rogue and DK. Once my shift was over, Julie and I got our leftovers and watched the fourth episode of Fallout. (We agreed that some of the writing relies too much on convenience; if the plot McGuffin has such importance that factions are prepared to go to war over it, it doesn't seem like the sort of thing a low-level faciton member should be able to just take from an unguarded room. Despite issues like this, I'm liking this season more than the previous one; Julie's favorite character has been stealing the show.) We also watched some of the fourth season of Coupling, which has been a lot more preoccupied with pregnancy. Around 9, I treated the cats and went to bed to play UmaMusume and answer some emails.
Tuesday: I wasted the opportunity to do anything in the morning by sleeping in. Julie came home early so I could take the car to the Navy Yard for my sleep apnea follow-up. Despite making some good progress, I'm still having too many events to meet the doctor's goal, so he'd like me to do a sleep study so they can determine if my device behavior needs to be adjusted. Won't have to worry about that for a couple of weeks, though. On my way back home, I picked up a bunch of my prescriptions at Acme, plus random salad supplies.
I hadn't eaten anything yet, so I had a very late salad at 3 PM. We decided to put off the gym until tomorrow. We needed to finish the chicken thighs, broccoli, cabbage, and garlic bread for dinner, and between the lateness of the evening (and Julie's state of state of distraction), I suggested we pursue our own interests. I ended up staying up way too late thanks to some Vampire Survivors videos I'd found, and they were so distracting that I could barely make any progress in FFXI.
Sunday: I prefer Sundays during WAVE because I get to spend the entire day doing chat support and working on my projects. After my shift, Julie had prepared chili for dinner, but it had a little more heat than I could handle. She continued working on the puzzle while we watched more Murder, She Wrote. I started falling asleep even earlier, so at Julie's recommendation, I went to bed early.
Saturday: we stopped by Taco Bell before going by Giant for groceries. We also picked up fluorescent light bulbs for one of the ceiling lamps in the basement that's been dim the entire time we've lived here, and the new bulbs make a huge difference. Dinner was steaks with mushrooms, garlic potatoes, roast asparagus. Our Civ VI games were a little uneventful tonight, but I'm settling into a preferred playstyle of pursuing diplomatic victories. Still have yet to actually pull one off, though.
Julie's going to be out at a hockey game tomorrow evening, so I need to knock out some projects I've been stalled on, and Monday my schedule changes for the next six months, I think: I'll be working weekends, which doesn't help my ability to participate in social events, but it should make it a lot easier for me to visit the doctor or the dentist or the veterinarian without using up my paid time-off.
