Tuesday: slept through my 6 AM alarm, but I was still up in time to clock into work an hour early. I wanted to finish as many groups as I could before our weekly spreadsheet refresh. Pretty typical Tuesday workday in which I worked 9 new groups first, then went back and started on my reworks. I didn't enjoy how many calls I was getting, but at least most of them were pretty easy. My break time was spent on the Grinding Gear stream of FFXIV 7.4, "Into the Mist". On lunch, I walked to Acme with a bottle bag, where I picked up my preferred flavor water, a couple of cans of tuna for the cats, and lunch from the halal cart. It looks like they're finally finished working on 12th street. During lunch, I realized I don't prefer the chicken over rice with salad to contain onions; I'll have to remember that next week.
Once we were done with work, we walked to P.O.P.E. for Latchkey trivia. Julie didn't feel up to researching the playlist this week, so we expected to place poorly. We did manage to snag our preferred table without issue, but we counted 24 teams playing this month, and we struggled as much as expected. I'm still missing having utensils for my burger. Julie lets me use her knife and fork to cut the thing up before she starts eating, but stabbing pieces with a toothpick just isn't the same, particularly when I realize I left some pieces too big. Anyway, we knew more answers than I expected, particularly in the music and movie rounds, but we ended up somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Julie complained of a headache on our way home, but at least she felt well enough to joke about suicide. (That sounds awful, I know, but that's her sense of humor.) We brought the trash out, I treated the cats with the organic tuna I'd picked up from the corner store, and I tried a couple of new decks in Hearthstone, since the miniset released today. Most of the games went bad, though I did squeeze out a win with an imbue rogue list. It wasn't as much fun as I had beating a wild quest warlock with my Eight Hands DK deck before trivia. I ended up going to bed after 1 AM.
Monday: finished my figurative Friday workday with a minimum of calls such that JC and I completely cleared all current Trade Sanctions emails. While I was between calls, I took some time to review the location of several of our Alaskan ports from both map and satellite views. The forces of universal irony must have been watching, as I got hit with a long call and a last-minute trade sanctions urgent email right at the end of my shift, and as a result, Julie had to leave for quizzo around ten minutes before I was able to. She was able to get our usual high top table much easily thanks to the sparse crowds, and just as I was seated, we put in orders for buffalo wings and my usual Caesar salad with chicken. Julie was initially concerned about a group of eight players seated nearby, but it turned out that we had nothing to be concerned about, since we ended the event in first place.
Saturday: work days like this are some of my favorite, as I got to take my time with my projects, help my coworkers with chat assistance requests, and completely avoid talking to anyone on the phone at any point. I also submitted my familiarization cruise request for mid-March. After my shift, I drowsed for a bit in the egg. Since Julie was going out with Faith for dinner, I finished my half of the leftover cheeseburger soup. They came back to the apartment afterwards and Faith lit a fire in our fireplace for us, which I think is the first one we've had since living in my great aunt's house in Wichita. They played a couple rounds of Tetris Party on the Wii U before switching to Mario Kart Wii. After Faith left, I fell asleep on the living room floor, but I got up early and went into the office to work on my project and post this update.
Friday: after work, we visited the gym for an hour, and I spent most of the time reading about Grooverland and other IF tribute games while on my cycle. After returning home and showering, we finished the leftover pizza I'd cooked this week, and we elected not to play Civ tonight to better refill the novelty reservoirs. Julie's going to run to the store early tomorrow while I'm at work, so I'm about to send her phone an updated shopping list before going to bed myself.
