2026

Thursday: woke up early again! But I was up late enough the night before that it wasn't a well-rested awakening. I got through the bathroom, gave the cats their morning Temptations, and updated my website with details from this weekend. I had a bowl of cereal, and I logged into WoW retail long enough to do the first few dungeons for this week's Timeways challenge. I think this is the first time that my best-geared character isn't Apocrypha, my draenei shadow priest. Around 8:30, I switched over to my work computer and got started on my day.

Today was as busy as any day during the first two months of the year, but at least I didn't have a lot of calls on top of that. I'm making decent progress through my reworks, but I forgot that on Thursdays, Stephanie needs me to go over my groups that have commission automatically going out to verify whether any need to be reinstated. I put a lot more of my energy last week into doing new groups rather than old groups, which turned out to be a mistake, as it meant my Thursday lists are enormous. I'm still dealing with the fallout from that decision this week; I ended up reviewing my list of groups until 11 PM, but at least that means I don't have to review any of these tomorrow.

I took several breaks over the course of the day, and aside from showers and lunch and dinner of leftover tortellini, I spent those breaks watching videos of people playing older Final Fantasy titles. Kastaclysm is playing through FFVIII, while the Grinding Gear boys just started on FFV. I think I also saw a little bit of Lil Indigestion's fourth(?) Tears of the Kingdom playthrough video; the dude is being just as deliberate in this as he was in Blue Prince. Julie had plans to go meet up with somebody after work, so she was gone from 5ish until 7ish. When she got back, she continued trying to work on her puzzle (while Orange Juice wasn't lying on it) and listening to a Pride and Prejudice audiobook.

Once the day was over, I served up five plates of tuna before donning my new wrist braces and going to bed, where I did a little bit of UmaMusume. Seems like I'm not going to finish the Test event before it ends tomorrow, but I'm not too bothered by that.

2025

Wednesday: despite the continued snow cover on the ground, I got to the grocery store, wearing (for some reason) my button-up overshirt and Julie's long coat, which meant I used her gloves for the drives out and back. Julie's been concerned about an uptick in price inflation due to tariffs and related issues, so I decided I need to cut back on the flavored sparkling waters. (This will allow me to continue subsidizing the increased treats and fish budget for the cats.) My shopping list for the week was lower than $100 for the first time in a while.

I brought Taco Bell home for lunch, though getting everything out of the car was a challenge, thanks both to the embanked snow on the sidewalk and the garbage and recycling awaiting its delayed pickup. We ate kind of late, after which I gathered some litter and staged my own trash to go out. I got distracted for a bit, but by 6 PM, I was getting the ingredients for scalloped potatoes prepped on the cutting board and the in the food processor. While they baked in the oven, I did a load of dishes. Around 8 PM, dinner was ready.

We spent the evening finally finishing up Star Trek Prodigy, but rather than start something else, Julie just switched back to her 30 Rock marathon. I had been trying to prepare this post on my website, but I couldn't focus on it enough, so I just solved a bunch of hard picross puzzles. Now that Julie's gone to bed, I'm finishing this update, and then I need to make a point to go to bed earlier than I have been, as I need to shift my sleep schedule forward in the days to come to be better situated for my sleep study next Tuesday.

2024

Monday: high call volume continues, much like this time last year. After work, we went with the Justin and Meagan to trivia at Stogie Joe's, and we managed to get all 10 points on four different rounds, securing an easy first place! We talked a bit about facial hair, since mine's starting to grow out. (Might just stick with sideburns since I don't like wearing my CPAP over facial hair.) I was starting to nod off by the end, so I went to sleep right after getting home.

2023

Sunday: another busy day of calls. Thought we'd get to the gym, but again I got out too late and Julie wasn't up for it, so instead we just had a dinner of veggie soup. Another day of Civ VI, but it was my turn to get the desync errors Julie'd dealt with in previous sessions. Got a brief update from my folks on the phone; seems like they might try to come up to PA via rail.

Tuesday: everybody coming back from Belize is dealing with airport delays. I barely made it back in time to get around for work.

Julie's blog post for the day: "I must say it's so nice to come home from work and not have to rush off to class or the lab, or type up a paper or read something for class. I can come home and relax and knit and watch tv and only worry about what time to make dinner or take a shower. The weather has been gorgeous here the past few days and yesterday Jason and I took a walk when I got home.

"The cat was accidentally locked out on the front stoop for an hour the other night.

"Every night I challenge Jason at Wii sports. Every night he wins. One day I will beat him. One day."
