Tuesday: watched a bit of this Little Match Girl stream in the morning, after I finally got out of bed. Once Julie got home, she helped me load John into the carrier so I could drive him to the vet. They just took a blood sample so we could verify if he had something more serious going on. I raised the possibility of a dental issue, and while this would explain his insistence on only eating broths and sauces, the tech just shrugged because they don't have any way to verify such an issue. Once I brought him back home, I had the last of my salad for lunch, and we eventually gathered up the litter and trash.
By the time we had to leave for Latchkey trivia, it was snowing. Wore my new Latchkey hat to the bar, where we grabbed our usual table. This month, we competed as "The Peril Partnership" since there hadn't been any big disagreement during the prior month to name ourselves after. I had a POPEburger, while Julie continued with her chopped salad and side of roasted and seasoned chickpeas. This was the second month in which there was a prize for the best-performing team composed of a pair or a solo player, and while there were other pairs competing this time around, we performed well enough to reach 4th overall and top duo. We did passably well for the "1988" trivia, but we got almost a perfect score on the lyrics round, and despite a couple of missteps, this was our best movie round since we started coming. My highlights included correcting the lyrics to Billy Idol's "White Wedding" and realizing that all the movies in the movie round were buddy comedies, but I let us down by getting two of the performers in The Blues Brothers mixed up.
After trivia, we walked across the street to buy more snacks for John. Back home, I started to drift off a little bit when I was playing some online word games. Tried to catch up in my MMOs, but FFXI was about to go offline for maintenance, so I just played around in WoW for a bit while I watched more of the Umineko streams that have been piling up. Probably should have gone to bed an hour ago, because now that's after 3 AM, all the cats are awake again and hassling me for treats. Time to crash!
Sunday: a disappointing day overall, though mostly because I couldn't wake up early enough to log into FFXIV before my shift began, or to make as much progress as work as I wanted to. I also did not get any work on my project done. Julie made that chicken and potatoes soup again, and we pretty much just spent the evening in a Poirot fugue while Julie finished her Cheez-It box and I finished my pistachios. Julie joked that this is the "strychnine season" since it seems like there were three or four episodes in a row in which the poison played a major role in the murder. I made an abortive attempt to unlock the Shimmering Snowflake secret cardback in Hearthstone again, but if I'm going to try to do that, I need to do it on my computer so that I can have the guide open on one screen while I play on another. The Cariel challenge maze is no joke.
Saturday: while I worked, Julie picked up supplies on the expectation we'd have a friend over for the game on Sunday. They had big plans for preparing various wings and dips, which somehow included ordering a grill for pickup. We went to Juana Tamale for dinner. Tasty birria tacos, but I neglected to get the bottlecap removed from my drink before crowds swarmed the counter.
Back at home, I switched out the litter so Julie could vacuum one last time before we had guests over. After finishing our cleanup, we resumed our saved Civ VI game from yesterday, which I was able to win in pretty short order. We loaded a second saved game, but that one was less ideal. After Julie went to bed, I got into FFXIV and played up to the solo "sparring match" with Big V at level 88. I tried three times before resolving to redo my hotbars, but I decided to call it for the night.

Thursday: I posted an adorable snapshot of the sisters to facebook. They were still pretty small here; three years later, they're the two biggest cats in the residence.

Saturday: finally got Julie to actually watch through Avatar: the Last Airbender with me. She's sassing it on social media now.
I played through the first hour of Firewatch. Not sure why I didn't stick with it.

Tuesday: uploaded a photo to facebook of two of our cats: Isabel sits on the first blanket my grandmother crocheted for me, while Mosaic sits on a felt throw on Julie's desk chair. Neither cat's very sociable, so it's rare that I'd get photos of them, especially this close together.

Saturday: my computer is breaking new grounds in inoperability. This must have been the period when I corrupted my Windows XP install so bad that we had to launch programs from the Task Manager because neither the start menu nor the desktop view worked anymore.

Thursday: for some reason I'm convinced I'm going to join my friend internisus in his online gaming journalism endeavor. I can confirm that I did not wind up writing any articles for his website.
