Saturday: had a hard time getting out of bed since I was up so late. As we got cleaned up and dressed for our big day out, Julie told me a bit about what the jurors had been up to outside of their actual deliberations; apparently someone she'd been talking with has a partner who plays Magic competitively, another juror was collecting restaurant recommendations for future date nights, and I reminded her about The Victor Cafe.
I drove us to PetSmart, and from there, I brought us to the Plaza Azteca in Marlton for lunch. I found myself enjoying Marlton's suburban squalor; the unused office park and aging parking lots tasted like Wichita. The restaurant had more "Dia de los Muertos" decor on the walls than I was expecting. I compared my notes from our Wildwater Kingdom trip to confirm that the Mexican fried rice I'd previously ordered was still available on their menu. Next time I order, I should ask them to include the vegetables in the mix when I request a combination of the beef, chicken, and shrimp. In addition to the salsa, they brought us a sour cream-based sauce that was pretty good. Julie and I reminisced about our water park trip for a bit before our food arrived, but I managed to get a couple of games of Hearthstone in before we left.
I took us back to Acme for our groceries, though Julie was starting to get a headache, so we tried to make it quick. I got the stuff for vegetable pasta with feta and my salads, after which we returned home. Once everything was put away (and Julie was lying in the bedroom with an ice pack on her head and her eyes covered), I posted my thoughts on finishing Esoteric Ebb on Select Button. I did the dishes, and while I'd wanted to do my laundry, I couldn't successfully remove the spider in the washing machine, so I decided to hold off in hopes that it would leave on its own.
We finished the scalloped potatoes for dinner, and Julie said I should choose what we watched while we ate. I had been reminded of the 1999 Mel Gibson movie Payback, so we watched that. I had forgotten everything about the movie except for the fact that his enemies are astonished at what he's doing over 130 grand, and he has to keep correcting them that he's trying to get his 70 grand back. This time around, it felt a little anticlimactic.
After dinner, I played some more GTAV, all of which was just redoing the stuff from Thursday which hadn't saved. Once Julie went to bed and I'd treated the cats, I found myself in the office watching a video on what to prioritize in the new Trackblazer career mode in UmaMusume, so I finally cashed in all my free carats on more support cards to better benefit from this new information. With my new resources, I ran through a Mejiro Dober career, which ended in A+ territory, one tick of the meter away from S rank. She may only be 98 rating points higher than my previous best Oguri Cap, but considering this was my first attempt, I feel pretty good about my positioning. Too bad I stayed up until 4 AM for this, though.
Friday: I had my second day off. Since I'd already taken care of the shopping on Thursday, I didn't need to leave, so I stayed home and did the laundry and vacuumed. I watched the first half of a playthrough of The Little Match Girl 3: The Escalus Manifold. Since we were going to go out to eat for my birthday tomorrow, we decided to entertain ourselves. I played online games, I think.
Thursday: spent the whole day suffering the effects of my illness. It was exacerbated when I tried to take a shower; something about the water vapor aggravates my cough, and it felt like I was unable to get any airflow because of how bad the coughing became. Started some laundry, and Julie made chicken soup for lunch and spaghetti for dinner. I tried to keep the cats entertained when I was conscious. I don't think I retained much of the Outer Wilds playthrough I was watching.
Tuesday: my project continues, but the highlight for me today was the start of a Let's Play I've been anticipating for a while: Joseph Anderson's first stream of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Whatever its other merits or flaws, few games demonstrate such structural ambition with their storytelling. For dinner I had some of the leftover spicy ziti, and I managed to finish the latest Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp gyroid events. I've also been reading through Brian Rushton's Let's Play/Read: Inform 7 manual thread as a great way to work on my approach to IF design.
Monday: we're in Philadelphia to scout out our new apartment. Julie had a recommendation to visit a place called the Pub on Passyunk East (or POPE), and we went there to eat dinner. Since I'm about to turn 40, I decided to mix things up and ate the pickle myself, which I normally never do. Julie was astonished, as she's usually the beneficiary of all my unwanted pickles.

Saturday: today marks the first time we've mowed the lawn at Aunt Helen's house, which we've been renting. This is a corner lot for two semi-parallel streets, so the lawn is huge, but she has a riding mower for the task. We each took a turn driving, which was odd for me as I always mowed with a push mower when I was growing up.
