Tuesday: it's election day in Philadelphia, and I had to walk down to the polling place to put my votes in. (I was a lot more prepared for my primary votes than I was last time a primary election rolled around.) Julie's going into work practically every day this week, but she wanted to make another roast pork with crispy potatoes and brussels sprouts. While I put a lot of work into Moondrop Isle, these were mostly little tweaks and fixes rather than a dramatic increase in room descriptions. I need to resume that process ASAP, so I'm going to make this a short update.
IS THE COUGH STILL HERE? NOT MUCH
Sunday: the weekend's a blur because I came down with a cold Friday night, and not wanting to put Julie at further risk, I've been splitting my time between the egg in the living room and the bed in the office. Actual hours of sleep have been all over the place. We played some Civ VI Friday night, but Pigs splashed water on Julie's laptop, and Saturday she was concerned it was causing a short, so we let it dry out all day Saturday and Sunday.
Julie had an eye appointment Saturday morning, and I was going to just wait in the car for her, but my illness was such that I stayed home, and she went to the store by herself. After she got back, I snacked on grapes while we started a rewatch of Leverage, and on Sunday we got tacos from some place Julie had been wanting to try, but I didn't catch the name. At some point in here, I spent a bunch of time using Twitter's search tool to read late 2009, early 2010 tweets from different accounts. By Sunday night her laptop seemed to be alright, so we played a bit of Civ before bed. My sleep schedule was all messed up, so I continued trying to level up DNC in FFXIV by randomly queuing for instances from Khloe's journal while I caught up on the Heavensward chapter of the Hildibrand questline.
Saturday: woke up in Vienna and started day 2 of driving all the cats halfway across the country. We ended our trip in Columbus, Ohio.

Sunday: since Julie had been leaving a little bit of food on the back patio for the local stray cat we've been seeing, tonight I took a photo of a local opossum taking advantage of her generosity.
Saturday: for Mom's birthday, we met up with a bunch of the extended family in Kansas City, where we had lunch at Grinders Pizza. After that, we all split up to do a couple of escape rooms at Breakout Kansas City River Market. (Eight years later, I'm wearing the same jacket as the one in the photo.)

Saturday: it's the Easter weekend. Julie worked starting at noon, after which I was able to return my parents' call in time for them to turn around and pick me up on their trip with Joe and Kelly to the Sedgwick County Zoo. Thanks to the holiday, it was really crowded in the penguin enclosure, the house of lizards and amphibians, the jungle greenhouse, and the tiger exhibit. After that it was late enough in the day and people were spread out enough that it wasn't uncomfortably crowded. Major highlights included seeing the fruit bats flying and stretching in the jungle, getting accosted by geese while trying to eat my hot dog for lunch, watching the baby tiger with its parents, and watching the river otters cavorting with some paper. I was a little disappointed that the gorillas and penguins weren't more active and that our visit was too early in the year for a lot of the animals that we would normally see in the Australian exhibit. Many animals had Easter-themed treats or big paper eggs to play with, but they may have already had them for a while, because excepting the otters and maybe the elephants, most of the animals had lost interest in the stuff.
That evening, Joe grilled the steaks he'd brought, and we had potatoes and broccoli. He and Kelly were going to head to old town afterwards to see a movie, but I excused myself in order to meet Julie and Richard and Glen at Louie's for our usual Macho Chicken Nacho extravaganza.
