Saturday: I think it was fine to sleep in this morning, considering how exhausting the previous day had been. I luxuriated in bed with Julie and the cats, and it was wonderful.

We got a slower start, but we still did our usual routine. I drove us to Taco Bell, where I read more of Hank Green's "An Absolutely Remarkable Thing". (Running out of time to finish these, and I did use up most of my June data allowance last night.) Julie thought we could find the light bulb we needed at Acme, so we headed straight to the store; I had a pretty short shopping list. They didn't have the specialty connector we needed for this type of bulb, though, so I took us back to Lowe's once we were finished. I then drove us to the other Acme parking lot so we could walk to our respective pharmacies.

I'd taken care of the litter yesterday, but I still needed to vacuum the bedrooms. We also changed out the bathroom light bulb, and I took the opportunity to vacuum out the fixture of all the dust that had accumulated up there. Julie washed the diffuser globe, and it's a shock how much brighter the room is now. We also put some cat photos in one of the frames we picked up last year, and I mounted it over the bed in the office. We debated going through one of our 8-minute exercise routines, but we decided to just go cancel our City Fitness memberships.

After we got back and cleaned up, I prepped the vegetables for the frittata I was going to make for dinner. We then did our usual Friday exercise routine, since it had been displaced by the wedding, and I have to wonder: is it obvious yet that "our Friday exercise routine" is talking about sex? I'd been pretty coy about it up to this point, but since roughly July of 2023, I would only start these entries with a capitalized first word if we engaged in sexual activity that day. So, since this entry starts "Saturday: I think [..., etc]": we fucked. Yesterday's entry ("Friday: started [...]") indicates that we didn't. Now you know the secret code.

After our interlude in the bedroom, I talked with David about our respective weeks while starting the cooking process. The frittata and bacon took a little more than an hour to finish, but it came together beautifully; I cleaned up the utensils and watched a video on cognitive neuropsychology while I waited for it to finish. We were both very happy with the meal. I had planned to spend my meal time reading my book, but in the aftermath of that video, I ended up doing some additional reading online instead. (The main takeaway of which was that I need to be more deliberate about saying "no" more often.)

Spent the rest of the evening writing up the last 48 hours for my website. Now, it's time to actually go finish reading this book after all.

Friday: I woke up on time despite my late night, and immediately got back into work and wrapped up the rest of my workday. I talked with David after work, and we ate the last of the leftovers. Julie's still a little out of it, so we decided to pursue our own interests for the evening. After watching my stories, I logged into FFXIV for more Occult Crescent Critical Engagements. Finally managed to buy a decent glove upgrade, but I stayed up too late again. At least this time, it was for my own entertainment.

Thursday: my plan had been to order lunch at Newbold Cafe before running my errands, but the cafe was unexpectedly closed. I walked to the halal cart, instead. (Had to stick to the shadows because of the heat and humidity.) This time, I declined to have the shawarma, but the chicken over rice was quite good. Once we were finished eating, I drove to the store to get my groceries. Julie was going to dinner with bocce people in the evening, so I finished the chili while watching Lauren almost finish Undertale Yellow. Once she stopped streaming, I started Animal Well, which kept me up way too late.

2023

Tuesday: I thought I'd gone to bed a little earlier, but I still had barely any time before work. I had another group of trainees, and they were really amused whenever John would roll on my keyboard and add a bunch of unnecessary punctuation every time I tried to make my notes. Meanwhile, a bunch of the cats like Goose and Koop made a point to stay in the office since Cliff is around. For dinner, Julie put together a kale and chickpea soup of coconut milk and a bit of curry, but something about the balance seemed off. She thought there was probably too much kale compared to the level of broth. I picked up some of the Sanderson videos I'd started but hadn't finished earlier in the year, and then I dedicated a bunch of time to figuring out some Inform 7 extensions I'd been interested in.

I posted another update to my livejournal today in which I described some of the activities of the sumer so far. My sister Kelly is one of the two captains of the high school dance squad, and they set up a gigantic garage sale at family's house in Derby. We took the opportunity to sell some of my grandparents' things that none of their survivors were interested in claiming, while I agreed to part with some of my own clutter, thanks to which I had the money to purchase a Terry Pratchett book and Stephen King's On Writing.

Last weekend also marked Kelly's first dance recital with her new studio. It was a small scandal that she'd left KDA in the first place; the new studio's performances felt less polished, but less predictable. I enjoyed it, though.

In terms of my own pursuits, I've been playing a bit of the PS2 port of Deus Ex, and today, I joined Carl on a whirlwind tour of pawn shops and videogame stores in Wichita. (I think he was looking for a copy of the GBA Tactics Ogre that he was desperate to get his hands on. I'd had a copy, but unfortunately I sold mine at GameStop before I knew he wanted it.) While we didn't find what he was looking for, we had a good time.
