Monday: slept in late for the second day in a row. My efforts yesterday left me with just a single new group to get through before I tackled my reworks, but it turned out to be a big HQ group. Worse, I needed to help with a Voyage Recon for a recent sailing, though there weren't too many cancellations; I got through more than a dozen passengers in under an hour. Spent some time on my second break trying to recover old online accounts, but a lot of these password reset processes are just silently failing despite the fact that I have the correct email address.
Once Julie got home, we took the last of my books back to the library, after which we walked to Acme to pick up one of my prescriptions and grab a few more groceries. Gorgeous weather; not too hot, despite the sun, and there was a nice breeze. We talked about some of our differences and similarities, such as my tendency to accommodate, and her particular schadenfreude. Once we got home, we showered, during which we chided John for trying to hang out in the bathroom when he's so clearly sleepy. Guy just needs to go back to bed.
For dinner, Julie heated up a can of hash to go with the remainder of my frittata. I let myself watch some old videos on youtube while I ate my portion, after which I made this update. I plan to log back into work for just a bit before bed, as tomorrow marks the day I start my first draft.
Sunday: another late morning in bed, followed by lunch and our weekly walk to Petsmart. Our route was pretty direct, this time around. We took a quick trip to the gym in the afternoon. In the evening, I prepared the fish stew Julie had requested, but I completely forgot about the crab cakes. I brought the laptop out to the living room so we could watch Enterprise while we ate. I find the 9/11-era episodes exhausting; it's a big step back from what the show had been doing previously. Once I was done eating, I played more Vampire Survivors until we got tired of watching TV, and soon we went to bed.
Saturday: started my work week in a state of exhaustion, because I stayed up late playing Animal Well. Shift went pretty well, though, with a focus on continuing my reworks project (which will continue tomorrow). Julie wasn't feeling up to any lunch plans, so I just had my usual sandwich, chips, and cheese sticks. When I went to the living room after my shift ended, Julie had fallen asleep rewatching early Letterkenny, so I took the opportunity to bring Mim back to the bedroom and napped for a bit, myself. Once we were both awake again, we reheated the vegetable pasta with feta for dinner and watched another pair of Poirot episodes. I rounded out the night with a pretty big Animal Well session, mostly finishing the game. Looking forward to finally watching Pat's uploaded video of the Live Letter tomorrow.
Thursday: after the update last night, I spent a bunch of time fixing the stylesheets and metadata so my website can appropriately generate link info from other websites, so I wound up staying up way too late. Still, I made it to work with plenty of time, and the workday was overall an improvement on Wednesday. Julie had this plan for pasta that involved a lot more sauce ingredients than I could keep track of, but I know two components were tomato paste and anchovies. The smell while she was cooking reminded me of teppanyaki or the Mongolian barbecue place we used to eat at sometimes, and i liked how it came out, despite the heat. While eating, I was pretty absorbed watching the weekly Disco Elysium stream since it's back in rotation, so we decided to finish Jury Duty on Friday. I did play more Tears of the Kingdom, finally taking the path up to the gorons in Eldin and assembling fireproof gear so I can explore the caves and mines. Meeting up with the leader of YunoboCo made it really apparent just how little I remember of this area from my Breath of the Wild playthrough. Has it really been so long??
I eventually went to bed, but our houseguest had pooped on the runner in the hallway, so I before I crashed, I opened up the basement and set up three extra litterboxes.
Wednesday: although I wouldn't hear about it for a while, Shamus Young died today. He was the author of a blog I've been following for over a decade. I think my favorite out of all his numerous projects and discussions over the years was this series of entries on building a procedural cityscape.
