Wednesday: up early enough to work on my first draft. Another easy day at work, though tomorrow is going to be more demanding. On the first half of my lunch, I played the Violet Hold tavern brawl while eating my salad, and I pulled off the six wins with zero losses needed for the card back. I watched an abbreviated version of a couple of season 2 Community episodes for the second half of my lunch. On my last break, I caught some of the latest "Woolie and Pat play FFXIV" stream, in which Woolie got through the Ifrit fight. After work, Julie and I did a few different 8-minute exercises, which were only enhanced by John's insistence on pacing between our exercise mats while we tried to do crunches and planks and such. We took a shower, and as has been the case lately, she replied to one of my jokes with: "Do you ever feel that I don't like and/or respect you?" She'd made cream of broccoli soup for dinner, which I ate while finishing the FFXIV stream from earlier, after which I did a little more writing work. Now I'm going to treat the cats before bed.
Tuesday: today's schedule included breakfast with Becca at First Watch, where I had some very nice French toast. We proceeded to Becca's house to continue our conversation and to survey the aftermath of child-rearing. We spent the afternoon driving up to Lexington to catch up with Jen and Chuck, where we sat around their shockingly deep pool. It was mostly empty, and their kids had been just lying inside in the shade. By the time Chuck got home, they'd gone inside, and the four of us checked out the waterfront before driving down to Port Huron for dinner. I was a little worried that it would be too hot to sit outside at Freighters, but despite some glare from the sun, we had a comfortable dinner; I enjoyed the blue-green mai tais I'd ordered to drink, and the wagyu melt sandwich tasted excellent. We drove back home afterwards; I spent a lot of the time in the car thinking about my interactive fiction ambitions. When we got back to the hotel room, I downloaded the latest Hearthstone update so I could play the new "Return to Un'Goro" expansion preview tavern brawl. (My first run with quest warlock was pretty bad, only getting two wins, but the quest/dragon warrior deck I'm using on my second try seems a lot stronger. I'm at two wins and no losses, so I could still end up with the same record, but I'm still optimistic about my chances.) Now that I've posted this update, I'm going to go to bed.
Monday: lots of follow-ups at work today. Afterwards, we went to trivia, where we sat at the round table by the garage door. We had our usual, plus potato wedges. Once the game got going, we did well! I provided several key answers, and we ended up in 2nd place. After getting back home, I fell asleep for a bit, but I logged into Dawntrail and progressed the MSQ from the end of the third zone to just before the end of the fourth zone.
Saturday: a perfectly ordinary day. We hit Taco Bell, went shopping, played Civ VI. I was trying to maximize faith generation as Ethiopia since that can pivot into either science or cultural victory paths, but I kept forgetting to found my cities on hills, and eventually Kublai Khan started gobbling my settlements up. Julie managed to sneak a diplomatic victory as the Mongols in what felt like record time. She made more of that chicken, rice, and casserole sausage for dinner, and we started rewatching Futurama unexpectedly. I have no complaints.
Oh, and I can officially aknowledge that I bought a new computer last fall. Maybe this week I'll actually get it set up in an optimal position.

I was worried that I'd caught COVID-19. As I posted on Select Button: "Pretty sure I’ve got it. Last night was awful; today’s awful. I sat in my doctor’s parking lot for 30 minutes so they could swab me. Results anywhere between 2 to 7 days. Their info says I should sequester myself from pets and family members, so I’m camped out in the bathtub with the door closed so the cats can’t get in. Under ordinary circumstances I’d be thrilled to hang out at home, but I’d really rather just not be conscious for as much of this time as I can." My test results ended up coming back negative, though, so this turned out to be conventional illness.
