Tuesday: couldn't go to Santucci quizzo tonight, as we had a concert to get to! (Due to the time crunch, Julie had me eat a bowl of chili during the last hour of my shift.) They weren't doing the Mann Loop bus for this event, for some reason, so we did a ride share to get to the venue. Lyft was the budget option, but the ride out was great.
There's something a little funny about doing two concerts at the Mann just a few weeks apart, particularly when one concert is Weird Al, while the other concert is a double feature of the Scissor Sisters and Kesha. I joked on facebook about how the vibes seemed ineffably different—"more body glitter"—but it was kind of funny just how uniform the looks at this event were. Step one: fishnets. Step two: "shredded" or "slashed" shirts over a minimal top. Step three: glitter, iridescent ribbons, or flashy piercings. We must have seen thousands of variations on that singular theme. (Personally, I just wore the B-52s shirt I got from Latchkey.)
Not wanting to stare through crowds of people this time around, Julie had us sit at the top of the lawn just in front of one of the hydration stations. I recognized a couple of Scissor Sisters songs, but not nearly as many as I recognized from Kesha. Since this was "The Tits Out Tour", they had huge spherical boobs on the stage at one point. Kesha's five-part performance put her in more of a "high priestess" role, it felt like. Julie has disliked performances that come off as too pretentious in the past, but she felt this one struck the right tone. All in all, a great evening, even if it was way too hot.
Our Lyft back home was hard to get to; we should arrange pick up in a neighboring parking lot next time. The lady who drove us home was very talkative. And then, I stayed up too late! Much like I'm doing tonight, five days later!
Monday: despite the continued pain of my cold, I did my usual Monday shift. I had a lot of catching up from my week of vacation. I was in no condition to go to trivia, so after struggling through a shower, I crashed on the bed for a couple of hours, during which I had a vivid dream about staying at work late, followed by a wildly successful presentation to the people of Finland: a toy bird whose defining characteristic is that it can get a lot taller than you would assume based on its appearance. Once I woke up, I had half my leftover pizza, but doing anything takes longer than I would like and is more agonizing than I would expect. I dislike this.
IS THE COUGH STILL HERE? YES
Saturday: with a trip to the water park coming up on Sunday, we needed to get our weekend chores out of the way ahead of time. I drove us out for our visit to the store as usual, though we didn't realize some of the sausage had gone bad, so we took a second trip to the Passyunk Acme on foot. The heat was miserable, but that's why we were putting our trip off by a day: Sunday was supposed to be cooler. I made a couple of pizzas for dinner. This time, we picked up a package of sliced peppers and onions to make up for the loss of our salad bar toppings we used to get in Wichita. Turned out fine, though these ingredients were a little oversized for my purposes. Julie wanted to watch a movie, so we revisited The World's End. Afterwards, I got carried away with watching players react to the FFXIV expansion endings to Shadowbringers and Endwalker, so despite my intentions, I didn't get to bed any earlier than usual.

Sunday: for Julie's birthday celebration, a bunch of us had dinner at Kobe Steakhouse! Scott and Jenny were there, and I'm assuming also Tara.

Monday: seems like Julie was away for the weekend. I had Angel, Frank, and John all on the bed in her absence.

On livejournal, I lamented my habit of missing deadlines before outlining my plans to post quarterly life summaries: March 29th, July 4th, September 29th, and December 31st. (Narrator: "He did not do that.") The closest I got to such an update today was to confirm that, in this summer so far, I've been sailing once and swimming several times. I've also been hating the process of painting our house's exterior, thanks to the daily 100+ degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.
