Thursday: last night, I couldn't get myself to go to bed until nearly 4 AM. As a consequence, I was in rough shape when I woke up this morning. The reason for my 8 AM wakeup was worse, though; Julie brought her phone in so that I could confirm that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp had an in-game announcement reporting that online services would be suspended on November 28 at 7:00 AM Pacific. At that time, the original game will no longer be playable, but in a rare move, they've stated that they will be releasing a paid successor app which will allow you to carry your data over and continue to play, though it will not have any online features. No word yet whether events will continue to function in the new version as an automatic cycle to reissue existing furniture and clothing items, but if they can't do at least that much, it'll be a sad state of affairs.
I struggled to plan tomorrow night's dinner, since Julie's been eager to move our meals back in the direction of the paleo diet we'd been maintaing approximately ten years ago. I eventually settled on this vegetable pasta soup recipe that I'd made last year on August 20th. As this was going on, Julie figured out what all the construction sounds we'd been hearing were: the adjoining neighbor had workers removing the brick wall between our back yards, as we think they're finally going to rip out the crumbling shed that's built into the corner of their property. I'll be curious to see if they rebuild the wall afterwards or just switch to chain-link. Planning completed, I got dressed and went to Acme, where I changed things up by not bringing home any of the Black Raspberry Ice sparkling waters I like. After I finished getting groceries, I drove by Taco Bell to pick up a late lunch. The police had closed part of Oregon, so I drove the long way around past the casino to get back to Broad St, and I got a decent spot not far from our apartment.
After putting the cold groceries away, I had lunch in the office, and a lot of my time in the afternoon was spent watching a Day9 stream while playing ACPC; I have a lot of gifts to give out before multiplayer goes offline. Once Julie finished with work, she got changed and went out for bocce, which turned out to be their last game of the season, since they lost. Pretty brutal season, but at least she had fun at the bar afterwards.
For my part, I had leftover cabbage stew for dinner, but once I was done eating, I ran some laundry and followed the cats around as they demanded my attention. I tried to play a little Mask of the Rose for a change of pace, but I kept getting interrupted and couldn't make much progress. Kind of a frustrating day, not least because I'm still awake at 1:45 AM as I'm writing this update.
Tuesday: my plan to go to bed at a reasonable time was successful, but I didn't consider that I might not be able to fall asleep, once I was lying in bed. I was still able to get up in time for my shift, continue my project, and address a couple of lingering follow-ups. I'd been wearing my work-out clothes so we could go straight to the gym once my shift ended, where I spent the time on my cycle reading the NightFloyd transcript of Sam Kabo Ashwell's Olivia's Orphanorium. Once we got back home, I did a circuit of the litter boxes before we took the trash out. We still have a comical volume of that vegetable pasta soup I made, so Julie's going to hold off on making her chili until Thursday. A new Hearthstone patch updated a bunch of Wild-format cards today, so I spent some time playing that after I got tired of trying to level up/climb the tower in FFXIV. I'm getting to bed a little later tonight, but with luck I won't have as much trouble actually falling asleep this time.

Thursday: phantom insect bites. The cats make only the most cursory attempts at hunting lately, yet I keep noticing flies and my ankles and knuckles itch. I'm emptying the trash increasingly prematurely.
Wednesday: posted to Facebook via Twitter to show my mother that I am still alive, despite the fact that I was standing beside her.
