Saturday: woke up late, drove us to the grocery store, and from there we walked to Little Sicily II for a cheesesteak (Julie) and a stromboli (myself). I've pretty much only tried the steak and vegetable stromboli here, and while it's not great, I don't feel much desire to try anything else. Always a long wait. After we finished eating, we walked my leftovers back to the car and did our shopping; I'll be making this five-ingredient stew Julie recommended, probably tomorrow. After getting back home, we did our usual cleaning routine. (I handled the litter, took out the trash, vacuumed, and did a load of laundry.) At 5 PM, we decided to walk to the nearby Acme to pick up my prescription and save ourselves the trip tomorrow.
When I got home again, it was time for the livestream of Crocodracula: What Happened to Calvin, which seems like a simpler game overall than the previous one. Good, though. Julie had me split up the last of the spaghetti for dinner, and we rewatched the short first season of Letterkenny while we ate. I played Hearthstone and Vampire Survivors, and once Julie went to bed, I did the current round of the Taurus Cup in UmaMusume while watching a Yakuza 6 playthrough. Probably need to cut back on some of this stuff to pursue other goals, honestly.
Friday: woke up exhausted again, and after playing some Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp to make the most of my time before its shut down, Julie asked if I wanted to pick up lunch for us. I had to pick up trash bags anyway, so I drove over to Target (and got some catnip for good measure) followed by a jaunt back up to Little Sicily Pizza 2. Her order was "spicy chicken cheesesteak, spice level 'spicy'. Masala fries, spice level 'medium'." I got a beef and vegetable stromboli, having only recently heard that they're a Philadelphia invention. I managed to get a good parking spot upon my return home, and after cutting my stromboli loaf in half, I had a good lunch.
After eating, I tried to schedule a dental appointment, but the online tool wasn't providing me with any options, so I'll need to find time in my worday to call the dentist next week. I needed to cut up the vegetables for the white lasagna vegetable soup I was making, but I ended up power-napping in the bedroom for half an hour first. I got up in time to chop the onion, squash, and zucchini, but Julie was soon done with work, and it was time to go to the gym.
On the way to the gym, we enjoyed the pleasant evening air. It's finally cooled enough over the past few days that Julie had me turn off the air conditioning, and she's had the windows open. While we walked, we spotted a few cats in windows, and we discussed how we could be a lot more serious about our gym visits if we switched our routines to lift weights and build muscle. I might be up for that kind of thing once we're a little more set in this routine. For now, I pushed up the difficulty on the "mountain climb" course on my Precor cycle, during which I read a few transcripts from Club Floyd.
After our gym visit, we got cleaned up, and I started on dinner proper. The soup came together well, though I might have overdone it with the shredded carrots. Julie didn't really remember the recipe; I asked if she might have suggested that I add meat, and she agreed it was a possibility. That didn't make it into my notes from last year, but she felt sausage might give it just a little more zest. We watched old BoJack Horseman episodes from the 2nd season while we ate, but as soon as my soup finished, I started to drowse on the floor; Julie played a game of Civ VI by herself. Once the cats started to get antsy about their treats, I got up to dispense tuna, and before much longer, I did the rest of the dishes I'd started while I was waiting for the soup to boil. Then, I came in here to post this update! I should crash momentarily, but I'm going to do some more ACPC before bed.
Wednesday: it's my Friday. Stayed up later than I should last night, so it was another rough day of rolling out of bed and directly to work, but I'm still dealing with my project rather than calls, at least. I knew we were going to a trivia night after work, but I didn't realize just how long of a wait that would be, and I pretty much just wasted the time on watching videos and doing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on my phone. The burger and fries at the bar were tasty, but we had a rickety chair and table, and the trivia rounds were pretty protracted, so we didn't get out until like three and a half hours after we'd arrived. The one thing that kept me kind of entertained was that we were right by door, so we could watch the wildlife scurry around occasionally. Another subway ride home, and here we are.

Sunday: drove by for Kym's 60th birthday! We didn't expect to stop and chat, but we decided it was probably fine to roll our windows down while they stayed on their lawn chairs in the driveway. Life post-COVID is still pretty weird.

At 1:42 AM, I posted on livejournal about how electrified I felt after reading insertcredit.com's Journalism: the Videogame article (archive.org mirror). Pretty sure I got the link from Penny Arcade, which is a little embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as how worked up I'd get over Tim Rogers's writing for the next couple of years. This was the inflection point that lead to me joining the IC forums, and then to Select Button when the admin schism occurred, which lead to my joining OKCupid in solidarity with a bunch of other SB posters in 2007, which lead to me meeting Julie, who I married in 2010. So, kind of a big deal, in retrospect.
