Wednesday: had the most restful night of sleep in a while. Still bogged down in HQ groups at work, though, so it wasn't much more productive than yesterday's workday in terms of groups completed. After my shift, we walked to the gym, where I did a 38-minute "Maine forest" walk while reading early reviews of the games of the 2025 Interactive Fiction Competition. After we returned home and put the trash out (since it's a holiday week), we got cleaned up and had leftover goulash for dinner. I spent my time failing to find anything worthwhile to watch on youtube while I did a little bit of Hearthstone and started the K'aresh update quests in World of Warcraft. Couldn't really get into it, though, and soon I decided to treat the cats, post this update, and get into bed.
However, I couldn't sleep, and after tossing and turning for a while, I decided to get back up. As long as I was forced to be awake, I decided to finally figure out what was going on with some old bank accounts that I'd stopped paying attention to. It turns out that I'd had more money than I realized! It felt a bit like I'd drawn that Monopoly card, "Bank error in your favor! Gain $50," except that the error was my own. I unconsciously penalized my past self to my future self's benefit. But then again, since this money could have been used to pay down debt or avoid putting something on a credit card, the actual benefit here is probably a net negative.
Tuesday: with yesterday having been Labor Day, cruise company call volume was high. I took all of my workload and assign time to work on trade sanctions emails, but I had to keep jumping on the phones to ensure we didn't get backed up. At least none of the calls were tough ones. Mim surprised me by slinking into the office to curl up on the eggshell cushion that Cliff used to enjoy. Julie made that spinach and chickpeas over rice dinner, but it got a little overcooked. We watched Bob's Burgers in honor of the Belcher anniversary. ("It's 9/3! 9 is divisible by 3!") I snoozed on the egg for a bit, after which I treated the cats, and Julie went to bed. I've been snacking on these Cranberry Cashew Almonds trail mix while watching a Tactical Breach Wizards vod, but I think I'll call it after I finish this update.
Sunday: before I started back in on my projects, I made a point to take a couple of calls so that my stats wouldn't be empty next week. Work was fine, otherwise. Seems like all the Hearthstone enthusiasts online are up in arms about the fact that they don't understand how digital reprints and duplicate protection work with the new Caverns of Time expansion re-releasing a bunch of old cards for Wild and Twist. Julie made up a tray of broccoli to go with the rest of my Thai curry rice, and we continued with R&M, same as yesterday. Weird mood tonight.
