Monday: my work laptop was briefly unable to boot yesterday morning, but it eventually started on its own while I was talking with IT. I had the same problem this morning, but this time around, I was not able to get signed in with the same kind of lucky break I had yesterday. After talking about this with IT, they sent out a new laptop and dock, and I'll send my current hardware back to them. I spent most of the day fielding calls from IT, hanging out wtih cats, and trying to figure out how to suppress the absurdly loud boot code beeps my laptop produced continuously. (It was almost as loud and as annoying as a smoke detector with a dying battery, but it sometimes switched between a two-note pattern and a six-note pattern.)
Julie came home at lunch time, and she had me bring up the carrier so she can bring John to the vet while I'm in Wisconsin this week. Once both of our shifts had ended, we walked through the brisk evening air to Stogie Joe's, where we were seated at the end of a table near the TVs by the bathrooms. Julie liked this spot since she could continue watching the Tigers play baseball; it's the first time she's really getting into non-hockey pro sports, and it's mostly because her home teams are doing well. Even though I'd eaten lunch several hours late, we had our usual Caesar salad and pizza, and our performance was pretty typical: we came in fourth place, narrowly missing a three-way tie for first, second, and third.
Now that I'm home and I've made this update, I'm going to retrieve my laptop (which we wrapped in towels and shut in the dryer, because we could hear it anywhere else) and see if charging it overnight will allow it to work normally tomorrow morning... unless it's still beeping, in which case it's going to stay downstairs.
Oh, I forgot to mention: after we got home (but before I posted this update), I finally signed into WoW for the first time in October and did some Raid Finder instances, just so I'd have a Great Vault prize tomorrow.
Saturday: so the big news today was the Palestinian attack on Israel. It's a complicated situation that requires nuance, and nobody is expecting any nuance from any media or political sources. I don't trust myself to handle it any better, so I'll just leave it at that.
Julie picked up groceries for me while I worked. For dinner, she made this big-noodle pasta thing with a lot of oil and spices. It's not bad! More Star Trek: Lower Decks while we ate, and I'm pretty sure we played a game of Civilization VI that I decisively lost.

Sunday: this was the last time I played Tacoma before removing it from my laptop. Julie bought some new socks with a cat theme.
Saturday: we went to the funeral for Julie's mom, Rita, today. Later, we were at Stables in Livonia. Julie and Chris are both here. I think I was looking up Achewood strips on my phone; I also fantasized about the possibility of suffusing an entire room with wireless phone-charging waves.

Wednesday: forgot to lock my car, and somebody got in and stole my CDs, leaving the door open as they left. Joke's on them, though. I doubt they have as much interest in burned CDs full of MIDI files as I do.
