2024

Sunday: as has been the pattern in weeks past, Sundays are my most productive workdays, though I still have to provide chat support to avoid being on the phones. Julie did a deep clean on the apartment kitchen, hallway, and living room. She left for the gym early, and I was just getting ready to leave when she walked back in. I did my own jaunt for 30 minutes (reading Mike Russo's IF Comp reviews while doing so), after which I walked to Acme to pick up more cat treats. Back home, we got cleaned up, and Julie had made our favorite veggie pasta with feta to use up some cherry tomatoes she'd had on the counter for a while. While we ate, I tried to watch Hundreds of Beavers, but I couldn't get through the first fifteen minutes before losing patience with it. We switched back to Buffy for a couple of "monster of the week" episodes. (I'm enjoying these, though the Buffy/Angel melodrama is a bit much, and we're inching toward Spike's inevitable redemption arc.) I started to fall asleep, so I got up to treat the cats and see if I could get into FFXIV. Remember when I struggled with OneDrive a couple weeks back? Turns out, I corrupted my FFXIV profile when I did, and by the time I realized I could probably reinstate the files since less than 30 days had passed, I'd already reinstalled the game. I took the opportunity to move basically everything out of OneDrive altogether, and while I had the Bevelle confrontation in FFX playing on youtube on the other screen, I rebuilt all of my action bars, keybindings, and other configuration settings, to say nothing of my saved gear sets, portraits, and other inconsequential elements. Having finished that process (and this update): I'm going to bed.

Friday: since Julie's coworkers were taking her out for dinner and drinks after they finished their audit work way out of town, I was on my own for the entire day. My plans to spend that time productively went nowhere. I bounced randomly between various MMORPGs, podcasts, videos on youtube, forgotten PC games like Break Quest and Moonbase Commander, and finally I settled on picking up Pentiment again. I picked up a pizza at LaScala's Birra (which was as great as usual, though always too greasy) and resumed playing where I'd left off last fall. It was good to finally get out of the first chapter, and then I stayed up way too late finishing the second chapter, as well.
