Monday: home from my Wisconsin trip after a long day in the airport, etc. I've got a bunch of updates to post over the preceding few days, but I'll probably pass on adding those to the RSS feed. Too late to post something more substantial for the moment, since I work tomorrow morning, but regular updates will now resume.
Saturday: while I got up with plenty of time for work, the cats that kept laying on me and on my lap stopped me from making my bowl of cereal until my first break. I spent my work time finishing my weekly project and mostly helping the floorwalker support team. Julie realized she'd thawed more stuff out than she'd needed for the next couple days, so she made buffalo chicken over rice for lunch and spent much of the day prepping her dinner plans. By the time my shift ended, she was unconscious in the egg chair; I wrapped myself in a blanket and fell asleep on the floor nearby.
I woke up and took a shower before we had our dinner of leek and mushroom pasta. We continued watching Ghosts, which we found ourselves enjoying even more today than yesterday. Cliff eventually roused me to give the cats their nightly treats, and I spent a while playing with them before posting this update. I also spent an hour watching this video about how The Simpsons is good again, so whenever we finish our current shows, I'll see if we can pick it back up again with seasons 33 and 34.

We flew to Salt Lake City for the Select Button meetup. After we landed, we went to a local taco place (Chunga's) as a staging area before driving down to the house. I think I compiled a shopping list for the group before Julie drove us in the big van we'd rented to pick up supplies.

Dinner at Sabor! Soft bread with a queso dip for the appetizer, and I assume I had the steak and vegetables over pineapple with those magnificent mashed potatoes. My mouth waters just to remember it. After we ate, Julie and I went to Century II for the local production of CATS, mostly since she'd never seen it before. The absurdity wasn't quite enough to surpass her distate for musicals, but it was still a remarkable experience.
We tried that new breakfast restaurant, HomeGrown. Can't recall whether Julie knew the hostess and was make a joke about the service, or if it was just super busy and her complaint was serious, but she reported on facebook that I got a veggie scramble while she had the corned beef hash. Together with the excellent mocha she had, Julie felt we'd definitely come back—but I don't think we ever did.
A busy day: I recorded a video of John gyrating on his favorite tower while trying to catch his tail and uploaded it to facebook.
But more seriously, I drove out to Vienna to visit my parents and Kelly. I took the route through Kansas City, and after I arrived, we had dinner at Sybill's Saint James. I think we might have had a long wait to be seated, but there was a cat outside, and the smells were promising.

While it was the wedding yesterday that made us to travle to the northeast, the adventure really started today. We started in Salem, where they were celebrating the town's history with a festival. We wandered the streets, stopped in a couple of museums, and had a lunch of lobster rolls and lobster risotto at the Lobster Shanty. From there, we picked up maps in New Hampshire; the clerk asked where we were from, and I told him: Wichita, Kansas. The guy behind us exclaimed, "holy hell!"
We drove up the coast—I think we stopped at a fast food restaurant for dinner, possibly an Arby's—and made it to our destination for the night of Ogunquit, Maine. It was enough of a tourist town to have lots of accommodations, but most places were either full up or closed for the season, so we had to drive back and forth a couple of times before finding a place to stop for the night. (We selected "Stage Run By The Sea". Julie took a photo of me playing my 3DS in bed.) Tomorrow, we go to the beach so Julie can put her feet in the Atlantic before we make our way back inland.
