Thursday: had a productive (if uneventful) day at work, but more importantly: I beat Tears of the Kingdom! When I got out of work, I had a bowl of Julie's huge stockpile of cabbage patch soup with cheese, and once I'd finished, I came out to the living room to play. Julie's sitting this season of bocce out, again, so she worked on her puzzle while I played Zelda. I started my session by clearing up the newspaper quests I hadn't yet completed, which consisted of finding some goats that had wandered off, after which I cleared a cave of enemies in my underwear. With all the newspaper quests complete, I crafted as many anti-gloom recipes as I could be bothered to make, and I warped to the cave to begin my descent toward Ganondorf. I knew there'd be at least one lynel on the route, but I'd been saving some ancient arrow components for just this type of encounter, which deleted the lynel efficiently. The rest of my descent was uneventful, though the gauntlet of Ganondorf's minions depleted most of the healing items I'd prepared. Once I'd cleared that portion and I was in the last moment of downtime before the final battle, I used a few Zonai cooking pots to prepare additional anti-gloom meals. The final battle demonstrated that I'm not as good at triggering flurry rushes as I need to be, but I eventually worked my way through the first two stages of the final battle. The third stage turned out to be something of a victory lap, but I found it quite enjoyable nonetheless.
Once I'd finished with Zelda, I treated the cats, and Julie went to bed. I stayed up a little longer while playing Final Fantasy XIV, as I wanted to do the current holiday event, which involved teaching a bunch of monsters who were running a professional haunted house that they need to go easier on the scares. I also tried to run some Wondrous Tails instances so that I could level up some of my combat jobs, but apparently I've forgotten that the daily queue instances don't count toward those objectives. Despite running four or five instances, I ended my play session with zero stamps.
Wednesday: finished my salad for lunch, and after work, Julie made eggs for dinner. We watched more Buffy (in which we saw the witch panic episode). Feels like I had plans I failed to execute on in the evening, but it's nothing too dramatic, either way.
Monday: in FFXIV last night, I got sucked into doing maps with the Free Company, so I didn't finish the Eden series, yet. What I DID do was finally unload a bunch of my furniture into my FC room.
Work was fine: mostly project stuff. Listened to a lot of Ryan Veeder podcast episodes when I had the opportunity. We went to Quizzo tonight, but it wound up being preempted by the baseball game (as there were only two or three Quizzo teams even present), so we just ate dinner. (Repeated the crab fries from last week with our usual soppressata pizza.) Back home, I played more FFXIV, and I've now finished both the Warring Triad and Eden series. My goals now look something like this:
1. Level up Sage with daily Frontline PvP queues.
2. Level up Red Mage (and Machinist (and Summoner)) with daily DPS roulettes and Wondrous Tails turn-ins.
3. As Sage and Red Mage get to level 80, use each one to complete the Shadowbringers Role Quests I haven't been able to start since I didn't have a healer or magic DPS of sufficient level.
4. Once all of the Shadowbringers role quests are done, finish the available 6.5 Growing Light Main Story Quests.
5. Continue leveling Blue Mage and tracking down new Blue Mage spells when I cannot progress on any of the above.
This was the day we saw Metric at the Fillmore. I was very excited. We really warmed up to the opener, which is kind of ironic because they never introduced themselves, and when somebody shouted "Who are you?" at one point, the singer just whispered into the mic: "It's a secret." I ordered some tasty pretzels. I don't want to suggest that the show wouldn't have been worth it if they had chosen not to play "Synthetica," because it still would have been a great show, but I was still very very glad that they played it.
