Friday: I woke up early, so I used up the last of my extra salad for my breakfast. I took a quick trip to the gym by myself, where I read more of Mike Russo's IFComp reviews on the community IF forum. After I got back, Julie confirmed the timing would work better if I got lunch first, so I cleaned myself up and drove to Taco Bell. The little bit of rain we'd gotten left a patina of residue on the windshield such that it was almost impossible to see whenever the car was facing south, but I managed to bring the food back home eventually. The cross-street was blocked, so it was kind of hard to find parking. I played through some Hallowmas activities in Fallen London while watching various videos as I ate, but it was soon time to go shopping. Had a short list today, since I was just making a version of our favorite veggie pasta, but I did stop at Home Depot first to pick up a power strip. (I was tired of my pillow knocking the extension cord out of the outlet behind the bed, so I wanted to get a strip with a flat-backed plug. I'm hoping this will avoid that problem.) Back home, I unloaded the groceries and sliced all the vegetables. The cooking process is almost familiar enough for me to complete without the recipe, but I still haven't managed to coordinate the timing such that the vegetables are done cooking right when the pasta finishes boiling and the feta has reached its optimal level of toasting. Nevertheless, dinner was delicious, and I tried to spend the evening catching up on my computer activities, though I can't say I did much more than write down some ideas I've been having for my next interactive fiction project. It's not even eleven, and I'm already exhausted, so I'll go to bed once I've finished my updates here.
Wednesday: today was the last day of work before my parents get into town, and I even got to take time away from calls to catch up on last week's project. I also caught up on podcasts and card reveals, and I took some time to download all the photos from the meetup thread to my local storage since I'm paranoid about the Select Button servers losing old images. We finished the angel hair spaghetti, and it's been a whirlwind of straightening up the apartment so that I can vacuum tomorrow and get everything looking nice. Gonna finally get back into FFXIV now, I think.
