Today is the anniversary of my marriage!
Thursday: today was the last Friday-style Thursday I would have before my schedule change. I don't remember much about the first half of the day, but once we got cleaned up after Julie's work shift had ended, we took the long walk up to South street to get a drink at Tattooed Mom. We just stayed at the bar on ground level drinking our ciders, after which we walked to a Mediterranean restaurant on 2nd street. We'd expected something else based on their willingness to take reservations, but it turned out to be a bit of a hole-in-the-wall. Still, the place had been in business for longer than I've been alive, and the food was great. A talkative New Yorker arrived shortly after we were seated, but more excitingly, we also got to meet the resident cat. On the walk home, we ducked into a decorated alley to see all the lights they'd set up; it was cute, but a little subdued. The length of our walks that evening left me sore for days.
Tuesday: Julie woke me up early so I could walk to the polls before my shift. It was a quick look down and back up again, and I managed to have cereal before I had to clock in. They officially announced the new Edge-class ship's name would be Celebrity Xcel. (That fits in fine with Edge and Apex, I guess, but Beyond and Ascent stick out more now, and the name starting with X makes it sound like it's one of the Galapagos ships like Xploration or Xpedition.)
As our anniversary celebration, Julie and I walked up to Pho 75 for dinner after I got out of work. There was some confusion when we tried to order; they tried to give it to us to go, but we just sat down at a table and they brought bowls over once the miscommunication became evident. We spent a lot of time on our walks and during the meal discussing the details of parties and vacations from our past. I was pretty wiped out once we got back, so I abandoned my plans to stay up and post this update and just went to bed, instead.
