Tuesday: spent the entire night working to get through as many groups as possible before my day off, as I just don't like having a backlog, and in my hubris, I thought I could stay up all night to try to reset the messed up sleep schedule I've been on. By 8:30 AM, I had signed off, and I then went through the bathroom, showered, and shaved. I was concerned about the possibility that any attempt to nap before my 1:30 doctor's appointment would result in my sleeping through it entirely, so I decided to use as many precautions as possible to ensure a likelihood that I'd wake up: I napped on the living room floor sans C-PAP, phone in hand, barely covered in a single blanket. I did manage to get up according to my planned time, put on both a heavy jacket and my raincoat, and I trudged through the cold downpour. Passyunk is open again, but 12th St is still impassable to the north. I was expecting more out of my appointment, but when prompted whether I had any other concerns, I ended up not bringing anything up. I did get blood drawn for labwork, and the technician confirmed that, while the practice itself is moving buildings farther away, all the support staff had to find jobs elsewhere in the practice network, which at least they were all able to accomplish.

After my appointment, I went by a bagel store at 10th and Morris, but they were out of the bags of leftovers Julie was interested in. I walked up to the halal cart to grab lunch for myself. (I told Julie I wanted the caffeine, but there was nothing stopping me from just grabbing a drink at the corner store on my way back.) At home, I played some Hearthstone while waiting for Julie to finish with work, after which we bundled up again (winter coat, Latchkey beanie, and multitone gray muffler) for our trip to Santucci's.

Trivia this week was themed around beards, somehow. Julie picked our name to be "Karly Moustache Us A Question". We were concerned about our performance with a theme like this, but I think we would have done better if she'd stuck closer to the topic; she kept asking questions about stuff like "historical players on the Eagles" and "what are the name of these Zootopia characters". We did not end up placing. Loved the pizza, though.

When we got back home, I treated the cats, after which I was psyched to be able to set up my housing plot in World of Warcraft. I had a hard time changing neighborhoods through the dedicated tool, but I found a recommendation online to just port back to the mage tower and reenter Founder's Point. Through this process, I ended up buying plot 48 in the "Silent Ocean County" neighborhood on Fizzcrank-Aggramar, I think? I played through the tutorial, explored the neighborhood, and set up a basic interior and exterior. The interior's nothing special yet, but I'm pleased with how the exterior came together: my house entrance is right up on the walkway, behind which a bunch of tents and other structures (like an oversized chow wagon manned by a stuffed stag head) distract from a hidden shadow-infused fountain around the back of the building. Despite my late night, I ended up coming to bed around 3.

Monday: it's Cyber Monday, which predictably turned to backing up the main phone line after just a few hours into my shift. Plenty of easy calls, at least, and I did my annual employee survey before spending the end of my shift hitting the trade sanctions emails as hard as I could before I started my weekend. After work, I wore both my heavy brown jacket plus my hoodless comfy jacket to our weekly Quizzo. It was just the two of us again, this week, and they were able to seat us at the high top table. I did another small Caesar salad with added chicken. We performed pretty well in the trivia; right now, our goal is to avoid losing points by changing our first guess right answers to wrong ones. It happened a couple of times, but we still placed second overall. (Julie's just happy whenever we score better than the teams she finds annoying.)

2023

Saturday: My workshift was mostly floorwalking with a fair number of calls in the middle. Julie used the slow cooker lid for the pressure cooker and made pot roast tonight with mashed potatoes. The roast was as delicious as ever, though much less cooperative than usual. Even with a fork and knife, I had trouble breaking it into chunks of appropriate serving size. Food in hand, we returned to the living room and watched Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in preparation for the new miniseries that just came out.
