2025

Saturday: we got up early to drive down to Larry and Denise's, who took us down to Booths Corner Farmers Market. This was practically a supermarket of market stalls: fresh produce, meat products, jams and preserves, desserts, prepared meals, perfumes and colognes, handmade furniture, retro electronics, comics and tabletop games, home decor, THC and similar weed products... I couldn't keep track of everything on offer. Julie and I picked up some floor mats for the kitchen and more roach traps, and Larry bought us all pretzels. I have to admit, I would have liked to buy the Xbox 360 the guy was selling for $200.00. Denise picked up a pickle pizza and insisted we each have a slice before we left. I drove us by the grocery store before we came home.

Julie got a headache for a bit, but we still ended up doing our cleaning: I got the litter and did half the vacuuming, while Julie focused on the bathroom and kitchen so that she can be satisfied we're doing enough to prevent cockroaches from proliferating. I managed to do my laundry, but the washer shorted out halfway through Julie's load, so we've notified the landlord. It sounds like he might finally replace it, so maybe we won't half-flood the basement every week. I have no recollection for how we ended the day, though. Leftovers? Did we watch TV? I have no idea.

2024

Friday: at work, I spent most of the day with department trainees listening to my calls, so I didn't get as much time to work on my projects as I would like. Despite this, it wasn't too bad of a day, and once my shift ended, I got changed and planned to go with Julie to the gym, but first I had a long call with David, as usual. After the call, we walked through the cold past the 13th St traffic jam, then made a quick jaunt on the cycling machines. I would have preferred not to have to walk back through the cold afterwards. At home, we got cleaned up and grabbed scalloped potatoes for dinner, though I logged into FFXIV long enough to put on a holiday glam and go emote in Coerthas Western Highlands with my FC for the company picture. We watched Ghosts, the "many Kims" episode of Lower Decks, and then moved into the Galaxy Quest documentary. I played a bit of Vampire Survivors, focusing mostly on the missing original game unlocks. Afterwards, I came into the office to post this update (and the missing ones from the last week).

2023

Wednesday: second-to-last day of work before my long winter vacation, but the long day isn't until Saturday. I spent my entire shift in a frantic rush on the accounting project, trying to clear out my incomplete groups from October before they cancel out of our system. While I didn't finish, I made more progress than I expected, and I laid the groundwork to finish the work even if the cancellation happens prior to the weekend. Julie was away from the apartment for most of the day, but it was a night for leftovers, so we had more of the curry and rice. I found myself watching a random selection of videos: more Slay the Princess, Endwalker, and Persona 5 as the mood struck me. Still trying to clear up my Person of Some Importance tasks in Fallen London, but I've resumed my status as an Exceptional Friend to give myself a leg up, and I enjoyed playing through the "The King in Green" exceptional story today. I'm feeling a fair bit of disappointment with myself about not keeping up with the game better over the last 13+ years.

It finally struck me that one reason the apartment is so cold lately is that I've had the space heater running in the office, and since the thermostat is in the same room, it's getting a false positive about the current temperature.
