Thursday: it's my figurative Monday, and David Lynch has died. After work, we went to the gym to ride the bikes, which was a struggle. For dinner, Julie had sauteed cabbage and sausage, and I spent a bunch of my evening investigating the different Jackbox party games to decide which (if any) we should invest in for a future online game night. I eventually stopped to play more WoW, in which I found myself enjoying a demon hunter build with talents selected to emphasize fire damage while trying to accummulate timewalking currency.

Tuesday: we got snow! This was the first snow in Philadelphia since we moved here. I woke up early again and caught up on stuff online. My work shift had a pretty high number of calls, but the difficulty and frustration level they conveyed remained within the acceptable range. My cough seems to be worsening, though; my technique for suppressing it in the shower by breathing only through my nose is no longer effective. After work, we walked out to POPE for another round of 80s/musical trivia. Our first round was all 1987, and the movie round at the end focused on Whoopi Goldberg films. Though I'm losing my interest in POPE's dinner selection, I liked having Justin and Meagan along, and we came in 4th place. I was already starting to lose consciousness before we left the bar, so as soon as we got home, I crashed in the office.

Monday: last day of the work-week. I'd finished all my lunchmeat yesterday, so I had a peanut butter & honey sandwich for lunch. By the time I was out, Julie had left to go to the trivia night, and they made friends with the adjacent table's competitors, so we might have more locals to hang out with in the future. (Paul and Andrea, I think their names were?) Meanwhile, I had a salad for dinner and continued my studies from yesterday.

Since FFXIV still isn't available to purchase, I've been taking advantage of all the extra space on my laptop after removing WoW to get back into Guild Wars 2. I forgot just how much of this I played through—I had eight characters all at least level 25, and since I made them all right at launch time, they all had like eight years worth of birthday bonus level boosts. Without even really touching any gameplay, I’ve more than doubled their collective levels. Despite never maxing any characters when I was first playing, I did manage to play through a bunch of the first season of seasonal content before I stopped, which is fortunate since that's basically the only content that isn’t still in the game. Kinda nostalgic to play through Personal Story content that uses the original Lion's Arch map, as that city was otherwise completely replaced with a new version a few years ago.

Meanwhile, Julie's over here playing through Hunie Pop again and just remarked "if I was a guy, I'd probably be an incel," so. We're all making good choices today.

Wednesday: we escaped from the snow on a flight down to Belize City. In the evening, we were getting hungry, but a local kid named Jonathan could tell we didn't know where we were going and redirected us to the Birds Isle restaurant. I think we had a long wait until they opened, but the quality of the food and drinks was more than worth the wait. The only thing I can remember about the apartment we stayed in was the wait for the attendant to provide access. Tomorrow, we visit Lamanai, and then we'll head to San Pedro for the wedding.

I played some Team Fortress 2 on Steam today, and as of October 11 of 2023, I haven't played it again since. (It's kind of going through a renaissance lately. I shoudl jump back in...)

Saturday: had more fun at trivia than at a bridal fair.

2009

Julie had a big LiveJournal update today:

"I never update this thing anymore, but I do read my friends page several times a day. I never have anything interesting to update with.

"I retook the GRE last week and improved my score by 60 points, so hey, there's that.

"I am on a mission to use all the yarn I have amassed over the past five years and now that I have the time I plan to actually accomplish this. I made a scarf for the facebook exchange with a skein I had laying around and right now I'm working on knitting a lace poncho with 3 skeins I had, all the same color. For that I had to pretty much reteach myself how to knit. It's funny how quickly you can forget something like that, especially since all I've done for the past year is crochet. Not only did I relearn the garter stitch but I taught myself to purl as well. So far the poncho looks as it should, so that's good. If it turns out to be something I wouldn't really wear, I plan to give it to Angie since she wears stuff like that often. My next project is a pair of socks to use up two more skeins (granted I had to buy a skein of the color in order to make the socks) and then a pair of mittens with one last skein. Then I won't feel guilty for buying new yarn when I already have stuff to make. Annnnnnnnd I will have made a pair of socks and a pair of mittens! The hat wasn't as difficult as I was imagining so hopefully those won't be either.

"I need to figure out what to do with all the leftover yarn I have from various skeins. Maybe one day I'll make some crazy patchwork scarf or throw with all of it.

"Last night our toilet tank decided it didn't want to fill so water came pouring out of the bowl and running down the hallway. Luckily Jason was home to turn the water off because I just stood there going "FUCK!" Maintenance came and fixed not only that but the fact that the tank would leak this morning. I did a load of towels this morning that we had used to sop up the water and thus smelled like toilet water. It's weird that toilet water smells differently than normal tap water - and luckily this was fresh water and not all polluted.

[An omitted photo of Julie and her friends at graduation.]

"After commencement - Angie, Joy, myself and Kristen. All of them except me were wearing heels."
