Monday: can I post this update before my computer spontaneously resets?? My first attempt didn't go through in time.

My long day of work yesterday proved to be a great investment, as today's workday was pretty easy. Not so for my former department. It seems one of our ships had a system malfunction severe enough that they had to cancel the next cruise it was scheduled to undertake; the escalations team has their hands full. The benefits of my promotion can feel a little vague sometimes, but on days like today, they feel a lot more concrete.

On my lunch break, I walked to the store for a couple of tuna cans, and I picked up lunch from the halal cart while I was out. The snow on the ground is definitely starting to melt, but it was still cold enough that I didn't feel like I was overheating in two coats. The rest of my breaks involved watching more late-game Blue Prince puzzle-solving.

Once we were both done with work, we walked to Monday Night Quizzo. It's good that we left as early as we did, as the place filled up in a hurry as soon as we were seated. We both got stromboli tonight. Julie tried the new buffalo chicken special, while I had my usual pepperoni and cheese. (On the walk home, Julie admitted that she was disappointed in her order. Apparently it didn't have as much buffalo flavor as she would have liked, and she suspected there might be bleu cheese lurking somewhere in the recipe. She said she's still going to eat her last three pieces for lunch tomorrow.)

It was a rough night for trivia. We did better than the average team on the question and music rounds, but both picture rounds had brutal sports themes: identify the city from photos that depict their Super Bowl arenas (very hard to make out, plus Julie suspected some of the photos were generated by AI), and identify the Super Bowl MVPs (any points we scored this round came only from Julie). Since we just missed placing, we were able to come back home as soon as the game ended.

Back home, I treated the cats and logged into WoW for my nightly attempt at the mounts from the "Crown Chemical Co." holiday dungeon. Still no luck, but I did decide to follow up with a whirlwind tour of season three delves, as I wanted to take advantage of the soon-to-expire delve week buff, since we might not get another one before Midnight comes out. I enjoyed my time playing tonight, but I did stay up until a quarter past 1 AM before logging out. I didn't have time to log into UmaMusume, though I did spend some time appreciating Aston Machan's antics in these fanart strips that were posted to the subreddit. I don't have much use for most of the stuff that gets posted in that place, but I do like the occasional slice-of-life snippets that surface from among the sea of "trainer and trainee are going to make a baby" pics.

Sunday: some time after my work shift, I finished the chicken curry. I went out to the living room to spend time with Mim, and I fell asleep for like four hours. Not the most productive day, but at least I ran the dishwasher after I woke up. I ended up buying The Roottrees are Dead on an impulse and played through a bunch.

Friday: I woke up late, went to pick up Newbold Cafe for lunch, and then went shopping. Back home, Julie recommended a slice up all the vegetables for dinner early so the actual cooking process will go faster, and she was right. I should have done the dishes earlier when I'd had the chance, but instead I got to play sokoban with dirty pans while I boiled up the rotini, cooked the vegetables, and broiled the feta. It was all worth it, because the meal was as phenomenal as ever. We watched the new episode of Ghosts while we ate, so last season's cliffhanger is finally resolved. I wanted to work more on my project after dinner, so I only stuck around in the living room long enough to finish the fishing event in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. While I was working, I happened to have a Jackbox stream running on my other screen, and Julie is not impressed with my choice in background noise. Anyway, I finally finished writing up my to-do list, so now I'm going to go do those dishes.

2023

Thursday: back at work again where my project continues to keep me off the phones. Julie and Phil went out to watch the Wichita State game, so I finished up my salad for dinner. Watched a lot of YouTube. (Mostly, watching other players' approach to Pentiment to see how different choices would play out from what I'd chosen.)

Friday: while we were at Sabor for dinner, Julie tagged Richard and me in a facebook update. She had to work in the morning, but having a sangria shouldn't be a problem, right? It was fine.

Tuesday: in their excitement to dash through the living space regardless of obstacles in their way, somehow the cats knocked the pepper into the hallway. Google Buzz had not yet died at this point, and I made my second post on that service, which was just to link to this article about its imminent failure.

2009

Monday: looks like I stayed up way too late playing Wii Fit. How late? I posted about it after 4:00 AM.
