Tuesday: playing with fire a bit by updating my site directly from the Neocities editor, but it's been a while since my computer rebooted unexpectedly on me, and I want to see how consistently I can force that outcome.
Work today was decent. Didn't get through all the new groups I picked up, which is the recipe for having to put in extra hours over the weekend, but I set my goals for the year (with no input from my boss, who's out on maternity leave). On breaks, I watched the Grinding Gear guys continue the Metal Gear Solid playthrough they began last week. I gave the Broad Street halal cart my business for lunch, and pretty much the moment my shift ended, we headed out to POPE for Latchkey Quizzo.
This was their 36th month running the event, so for their three year anniversary next month, they're going to mix up the format, apparently. Julie and I felt pretty confident in round one, as there were questions about both The Venture Bros. and Arrested Development. The music round was "all divas," but Julie recognized enough of the lyrics from one day of listening to the Latchkey playlist that we moved into first place. In round three, she'd already worked out that the theme this time around was "movies featuring Sigourney Weaver," and we ended up in first place! As the best-performing team of one or two players, we also came home with a copy of Weird Heroes of Public Access, which I initially assumed to be a sourcebook for that Public Access game I bought last month, but the naming is coincidental. We were very happy with another first-place victory, and I imagine we'll use the gift card for additional VHS tapes or RPG products.
Back home, I continued the Hearthstone Brawliseum event I'd started at the bar using the Cataclysm cards I'd opened. The Onyxia DK deck I built won six games and unlocked the maximum reward, so I could have stopped there, but I wanted to try making Heal Priest and Herald DH decks as well. Those didn't do nearly as well.
The weather is nice enough that we've had the windows open, but temperatures are supposed to drop again on Thursday. Also, the government is pursuing war with Iran. I'd have brought that up when it first happened, if I wanted to spend any time whatsoever thinking about how bad current events have been.
Monday: on my Monday work shift, I got confirmation that the new schedule will go into effect in two weeks. I'll be switching to Saturday through Wednesday again, 10 AM to 7 PM, which is a little frustrating. There's a chance I'll be changing departments before that goes into effect, but I'm not optimistic about this possibility, since there've been no updates in the past week. After work, Julie's travel companion joined us for Quizzo, and despite giving up some obvious answers, we cruised to an easy first place. I just had Caesar salad with chicken, since my dietary budget is likely to be stretched at POPE tomorrow. After we got back, none of my evening plans could overcome the inertia of watching old SU reaction videos on youtube, which is a little embarrassing, but it's a stressful time. I shouldn't be too self-critical about how I spend my rest time.
Sunday: between Unicorn Overlord and the time change, I was awake most of the night last night, which didn't make my workday any easier. The call volume was much lower than yesterday for the first half of the day, but I got some complex escalations and didn't get a chance to send my weekly project email due to how much time they were taking. Julie's weather-aggravated headache continued into its second day, so she didn't do much other than set up further reservations for our upcoming vacation. For dinner, I finished my half of the pizza, and I jumped into our weekly sewing circle to work on Moondrop Isle. My focus today was fixing zone connections and main path progression. After I finished, I talked with Mom on the phone about our cruise plans and my neice's birthday yesterday. I should try to make up for yesterday by going to bed now, so that's what I'm going to do.
Friday: another month of data got added to my project, so work continues as it has. However, we were too tired to do anything special for Friday night, other than a little MMO leveling.

As of late 2023, this is the most recent date on which I've played Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. I loved the colors and UI on this one.

Tuesday: got confirmation that my Xbox is repaired, so it's on its way back. I don't think the fix lasted very long, though.

Monday: I heard something today that shocked me, but did I record the details of this revelation? Of course not! I would rather be indirect about this, using language like "the discovery in the hallway," which at least confirms the revelation occurred during latter part of the troop meeting. I wouldn't have a cell phone for five or six more years, but could I have called somebody on the landline? Was this gossip passed to me by one of the guys in my troop? This was 25 years ago. I can't remember.
