Tuesday: a better day at work than yesterday, as I'm on-track to get all my projects caught up before I leave for my vacation. I thought I'd need to have more Hearthstone streams on during my breaks and lunch for anniversary-event drops, but I managed to collect them all yesterday; I just need to watch a little bit tomorrow during Whizbang's Workshop theorycrafting to have everything.
After work, we walked to the store to check their trial size selection, after which we went to POPE for the last of the 80s/90s Quizzo we've been doing every month. (Starting next month, they're adding the 00s.) Another big crowd this week; even wtihout the Moodys joining us, we expected to have to sit in the backroom, but the host found a two-seater table in the back corner of the main room for us instead. (Immediately after we got seated, more groups arrived that had to be seated in the backroom anyway.)
Lately Julie perfers to save money by eating at home before we go to trivia, but the way this has been playing out is that we're eating less Stogie Joe's, yet meals at POPE are still in-rotation every month, which is unfortunate. The POPEburger and fries are a little overwhelming. Plus, as many issues as I've had getting my drink order right at Stogie Joe's, tonight I ordered a soda and refilled it twice. The first delivery was just as intended; when I refilled it the first time, the bartender gave me back a cup of water instead. The second refill was unexpectedly Diet Coke? Furthermore: the crowds at POPE have a vibe which I would describe as "shouty". I'm glad we only deal with it less frequently.
Anyway, issues aside, the trivia was pretty entertaining. In a packed field, we came in 11th, and for once the movie round wasn't hte most difficult part. (The movie theme was "aliens".) On our way home, though, I managed to roll my foot on an uneven sidewalk. My feet and ankles are fine, but I scraped up my left palm and right leg just below the knee. I'm thankful it won't make walking difficult when I'm about to go on vacation, but I joked to Julie that, since I did the same exact thing when we were in Belize, I was in danger of adopting a fake superstition about trips to the Caribbean making me more prone to injurious falls.
After we got back home, I cleaned myself up before we gathered up the litter and trash for trash night. Julie came into the office and played a few rounds of Balatro on my laptop while I knocked out a couple of daily Hearthstone quests on my phone on the bed. Now that she's gone to bed, I'm writing this update while trying to figure out what I missed about this band They Might Be Giants on Last.fm. This has been a long time coming, but Ryan just released his annotated source code for the TMBG tribute-game Someone Keeps Moving My Chair to his Patreon, so that accelerated my timeline. Now that this update's pretty well done, gotta check in on some MMOs real quick before bed.
Sunday: Cliff joined us for the next couple of weeks! We also played some Civ VI, and while I was on-track for a science victory, we accidentally brought about my win via diplomacy instead. In the middle of the game, we paused so I could prepare dinner. I thought I was making tortellini for the first time in years, but Julie told me I'd made it at least once before since we moved to Philadelphia.

Friday: though I'd been considering this for a while, today I declared my belief that Freddie's Frozen Custard surpasses Steak & Shake as the superior diner-style fast food burger joint. I also flew to Michigan for the weekend.

Wednesday: school got out at 2:00 because of the basketball team was going to the state tournament. That meant the cheerleaders and dance team members that drew me to the Revelations class weren't present today, which was apparently enough of a let-down that I needed to complain about it in my journal. Shrugs.
