Sunday: boarding Wonder of the Seas. 11 Safety Briefing. 19 Wonderland reservation.
0849 - after my last update, I stayed up for another couple of hours playing more Hearthstone. Even after I tried to go to sleep, neither Julie nor I could get much rest; the bedding/blanket situation seemed comfortable enough, yet I struggled to find a position where head and CPAP mask and the rest of my body were all in concert. Julie said she was having similar issues this morning. We got through our morning routine, during which Julie emphasized how much the Lonely Island song "I'm On A Boat" has been stuck in her head by singing random lines at a high frequency, though the twist she's introduced is to substitute Grey Goose for words or parts of words.
Most of this update was written while sitting in the hotel breakfast area. Julie employed some kind of automated pancake printer to generate three pancakes along with peach yogurt. I elected to have a chocolate chip muffin with apple juice. Looking out the windowed wall at the pool and palm trees is making me want to keep working on Moondrop Isle.
Anyway, we've returned to the hotel room to await our pickup to the pier. ("Gooseidon, look at meeeeer," Julie sang.) I'll check in on Animal Crossing while we wait.
1239 - deck 15 of Wonder of the Seas: currently camped on a deck chair port side where I've been posting updates and photos to Select Button. The coach bus ride was a little stuffy since we took seats at the very back, where I couldn't reach the fan controls. Once we arrived at the port, it was a speedy procession through security and check-in, and we then had to decide what to do with ourselves.
1419 - El Loco Fresh: we located our stateroom (still in maintenance) before we decided to grab a couple of brats at the hot dog stand. Afterwards, we took the elevator up to look at the pools on deck 15. We got changed in the restrooms by the Solarium and then took turns trying the waterslides. I only got halfway through my update above before it was my turn to try them, but I only wanted to wait in line twice before I heard our rooms were ready. We went back to 7726 long enough to unpack and drop off the carry-ons. Probably should have charged up my phone more when I had the chance. We came up for Mexican buffet, and now we'll head elsewhere.
1748 - our stateroom: we walked the circumference of the ship, more or less. The Mexican place was starboard side forward, where I had chips and queso (okay), a beef burrito (shouldn't have bothered), and a chicken quesadilla (I liked it). Past that was the mini golf area, a play area for kids, the bow of the ship, the Zipline, the Flowrider surfing activity, and some sports stuff like the basketball court and ping pong and such. We continued following the port-side railing aft to the Solarium again, and since we didn't have more than one bag with us, we decided to try the hot tub we'd found earlier that overlooked the edge of the ship. It was pretty nice, if a little too warm for the day, so after Julie overheated, we moved to the saltwater pool to cool off. This was a nice time until Julie's head started to hurt, so she tried to nap on the lounger with limited success. We came back to the room to take showers and prepare for dinner, where I decided to finally take the first motion sickness pill as a precautionary measure.
2047 - our stateroom: we got changed after a little convalescence in the room before dinner. Our reservation at "Wonderland: Imaginative Cuisine" was right at 7, and we were promptly seated at the center table under the main chandelier-structure. We agreed to the chef's selection for the appetizers; for the entrees, Julie got the ribs while I ordered the branzino on basmati rice. After dinner, they brought out a chocolate sphere that they melted with some variety of alcoholic fudge, along with a "forbidden apple" made from several varieties of fruit mousse. Lotta folks disregarding the dress code. Our culinarian, Geronimo, made a point to ask us to complete his survey, and with our new photo in-hand, we returned to our stateroom. Julie made some appointments for additional activities onboard, and I think next we're going to walk the central garden.
0041 - in bed: after my last update, I dozed on the bed for a bit before it was time for us to head back out. We walked Central Park like we'd planned and found a couple of chairs to hang out in before it was time for our show to start. The show itself was great (InTENsity; see the select button thread for photos and/or Julie's video). Once the show ended, we walked back to the Broadway area for the balloon drop. I liked watching the descent of the Rising Tide. As soon as the balloons came down, there was an enormous uproar of popping sounds, so we made a quick escape back to our stateroom to go to bed, which I will now do as well.
