Tuesday: after my update on Monday night, I stayed up until 4 AM trying to finish all my group reworks, and I still ended up having trouble getting to sleep. Felt like I only got three hours of sleep. My Tuesday shift went better than Monday, at least, insofar as I didn't have half a dozen calls right before closing time. Julie was actually back at work today, so I took a shower on my first break. At lunchtime, the Grinding Gear guys started their Final Fantasy VI stream; I took an abbreviated second break to make up for time I'd lost on my first. One call managed to slip through at 5:59 PM, but it was over pretty quick.
After work, we rode the subway to Santucci's for a country-themed quizzo evening. We ended up playing as "Achy Breaky Smart," which might have been embarrassing if we hadn't consistently stayed in the top three teams. The picture round just tasked us to name the show containing the depicted characters who all wore cowboy hats; the music round included a decent number of country-adjacent songs from the pop and rock genres. We ended up winning the tie-breaker for 2nd place. Along with our usual half-buffalo, half-ranch pizza, it was a satisfying evening.
After we got home, I started to feel (understandably) sleepy, so I treated the cats and went to bed early, though I ended up playing through an UmaMusume career mode before I fell asleep. Grey Goose crawled under the blankets on my side of the bed, so I ended up just lying on top of them for most of the night. I felt very gratified to wake up early, but it was a little earlier than intended; since I wasn't falling back asleep, I went out to the living room around 3 AM, where I started the new season of Hearthstone with a midrange herald rogue deck which I'm quite enjoying. A few hours later and I wrote this update.
Monday: first day in my new position, so I got to spend the day taking notes as I listened to two of my coworkers explicate their daily routines. After Julie and I were both done with work, we walked to Stogie Joe's for weekly Quizzo for the long-delayed Women's Month trivia. The nice weather meant the garage door was open and the place was packed. We were initially seated at a central table, but the wait staff realized that the party at the adjacent table was actually reserved for six, not four, so we had to move back by the bathroom. As the night wore on, we watched that group balloon to something like 14 people. Still, we ended up in 3rd place overall. As we walked back home, we heard plenty of thunder as it began to rain, but it felt like the storm petered out before it properly started. I wanted to play more Unicorn Overlord in the evening, but John kept bringing me to the kitchen, so I had a hard time finishing up the IF-related research I was doing in the office; I still ended up staying up until 4, despite my best efforts.
Sunday: we're still devastated by the loss of Miss Kooperstown. Julie's taking it really hard, and I took it just as hard when she realized she forgot to ask the vet techs for some of Koop's hair, or when Juice retrieved Koop's favorite little red toy ("Fluffers"), which neither of us had seen for months. Still had to go to work, though, where fortunately I could focus on floorwalking and project work. Dinner was steak and mushrooms over potatoes with asparagus. I tried to do a little Moondrop Isle work during our weekly sewing circle, but it was hard to focus, and I feel like I kept getting caught up in spending a lot of effort to accomplish something minor. Afterwards, John kept trying to get me to follow him places, so I went out to the living room so he could fall asleep on my legs while I played a little bit of Unicorn Overlord. I managed to extricate myself a little after 1 AM, but when going to bed myself, I had a hard time falling asleep. Too sad.
IS THE COUGH STILL HERE: YES
Friday: very excited to continue day 4 of Joseph Anderson's 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim streams.
Thursday: we decided to officially announce our plans to move to Philadelphia to the friends and family we hadn't already informed via facebook today.
