Wednesday: woke up with John by my leg, and I had a hard time convincing myself to get up. Finally got moving at 7:20. Spent a little time prepping the outline for book one. Considered walking to Acme, for midweek supplies, but they'll get me through tomorrow morning.
The laborious project at work continues. It isn't difficult, which is a small mercy, but every group I've touched requires a ton of specific detective work. I've only finished two groups in two days; I dread what this will do to my normal workload. At least the breaks were nice: I watched more videos on Jung's cognitive processes, a little bit of music, and the first "Get Into FFXIV" stream that Pat and Woolie are doing together. I had my last salad with chicken for lunch.
After work, Julie and I moved the furniture again to do another round of Just Dance, though this time it was the original game on Nintendo Wii. These routines are a little bit less fun than the ones from the 2014 edition. I was having some digestive issues, so we called it quits and did a couple of 8 minute exercises to finish up. My flexibility improvements are also progressing; I never put any effort in trying to improve as a kid, so it's exciting to work toward something I was never able to accomplish before.
We got cleaned up and reheated Julie's burgers, potatoes, and corn for dinner. I also spent some time hanging out with Mim in the bedroom to make sure she'd use the box while she could. After the meal, I started on this update, after which I'll head towards bed, but I'm stalling on concluding this. I'm eager to crash, and I've enjoyed this prolonged correction to my sleep schedule, so I shouldn't let anything get in the way, right? I think my emphasis on cutting escapist activities out of my daily routine has just pushed my escapism into my imagination, so I'm more preoccupied than usual with exploring potential scenarios. Whether it's fantasizing or catastrophizing, I'm enjoying myself a ton, but I think I'm letting it distract me from my goals again. I guess I needed to point that out to myself before I turned in for the evening.
After posting this update, I treated the cats with some Fancy Feast before going to bed, where I spent some time reading Hank Green's debut novel. Julie came to bed maybe 20 minutes later, and we spent maybe another 20 minutes joking with each other. She was hitting a lot of the classics: suggesting Mim was a seductress trying to get access to my "grundle," explaining that cats develop their sense of subtlety at cat school, which she knew because she used to be a cat, and that my disbelief meant that I would be unprepared when Wendy showed up. (Wendy, naturally, being the character from Peter Pan, since this was a criticism of my ability to believe.) For my part, I actually cracked myself up when Julie asked whether I'd reached a stopping point, and I replied that "there are stopping points everywhere, for those with eyes to see." Feels like I fell asleep immediately.
Tuesday: my workday consisted of a scattered number of recon cancellations, a handful of accounting calls, and lots of effort on reworked HQ groups. I'm getting faster at them, but there's still a lot of work to do. After my shift ended, we took a circuitous route through the neighborhood to POPE for our monthly Latchkey trivia. Our usual table was missing a chair, so we parked ourselves on the side of the divider closer to Marc and Amanda's table. Julie decided to stick with the team name "Help Me, Stepbro, I'm Stuck On This Question" for another month. My POPEburger seemed pretty average, but the fry sauce never fails. We'd been paying close attention to the instagram hints, so we were well-positioned as the trivia started; we knew that the first round was all about the year 2005, while the music lyrics were taken from songs with animal references in the names. Before we'd even started, Julie told me she thought she could guess the theme of the movie round just from the pictures, and she was right: the movies all involved Steven Spielberg somehow. I was a little embarrassed to get the lyrics to a Metric song wrong, but in my defense, I hardly listen to Black Sheep compared to the Synthetica or Formentera albums. It didn't end up mattering, as we ended up tying for first place, and Julie was able to name more Jurassic Park performers than our opposing team in the tie-breaker round! It's nice to finally win this trivia night with just the two of us. Since we were also the top-scoring one- or two-player team, we got a Japanese comic about a cat DJ in addition to our Latchkey gift cards.
After we got back home and I finished treating the cats, I played some FFXIV in the Occult Crescent.
Monday: high call volume today thanks to a flash sale for pre-cruise items like wifi and drinks packages. I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, so I wanted to get as much of my call volume out of the way today as possible, and I was pretty successful at that. Pleasant weather today, so Julie turned off the air and opened all the windows after she got home, and then we went to Quizzo. She was interested in trying a pizza incorporating sausage and broccoli rabe in white sauce rather than our usual soppressata; I'd have favored a little more sausage relative to the amount of broccoli rabe we received. Trivia this week felt like we were either getting softballs or obscure stumpers, so we were pretty consistently middle-of-the-pack for the duration of the event. We were seated at the table right next to the garage door, which they opened halfway through; it was a little reassuring to be able to hear our outdoor neighbors struggling with the same questions we found difficult. After we came back home, I drowsed on the floor for a bit before dispensing treats to the cats, after which I came in here to post this update and upload a bunch of bug fixes for Moondrop Isle.
Saturday: Julie made us breakfast of eggs and bacon before we drove out to Bensalem to go by the Kohl's near the office where she works. I picked up a new pair of jeans, a pair of slacks, a few polos, and some higher-quality tees that were on sale for Father's Day. We tried Friendly's for lunch, which felt like the regional Steak n' Shake equivalent. Back in town, we stopped by the store for groceries, but I shopped pretty light this time, focusing on a couple of key snacks and stuff for my Saturday dinner (instant-pot goulash).
At some point after our trip home, a fire under one of the bridges on I-95 caused the bridge to collapse, so we just missed an awful traffic scenario. Julie's dreading her Tuesday commute and really hopes they won't need her to come in this week.
Back home, we played some Civ VI, starting another game in which Julie's pursuing cultural victory while I strive for religious victory. We decided to play a "true start locations Earth" map, which meant that as Poland, I was right next to Germany's settler when we started, and considering what a war-mongering troublemaker Germany can become, I just... kinda... eliminated them on the first turn of the game?? Not long after that, Basil II knocked Georgia out of the running, and once he came after me, I managed to seize his capital. This has made for an unusual balance of power; I have a feeling I'm much better positioned to spread Polish Catholicism than Julie is to make Canada the center of world culture, but Vietnam might be a difficult obstacle. We'll see, if we ever get back around to playing this game again.
I eventually got dinner going. For once, I didn't try to put a video on while I was cooking; Julie tried to entertain me instead, with mixed success. By the time it was ready, it was practically 9 PM, so we just watched our own videos for the rest of the evening. I jumped back into Zelda long enough to wrap up Outskirts Stable and pick up a few shrines I'd overlooked, particularly around Malanya's abode and other areas to the north.

Sunday: every summer, my employer hosts a luncheon at Sedgwick County Zoo. We'd go to whichever pavilion they'd rented, eat hot dogs and chips, then wander the exhibits. At today's event, we met up with Scott and Jenny, and we had a good time.
Saturday: it seems I was reminded today that Zoobilee Zoo existed. While I recognize the characters, I couldn't tell you anything about any of them.
Friday: we must have been going through old paperwork, because Julie commented on a note I'd made during pharmacy tech training (which happened around 2011 or 2012): "The franchising department is to the business world as the reproductive system is to the animal kingdom."

At the laundromat. Jason seems really engrossed in his book so naturally I keep talking to him. I'm a pretty shitty wife.
I worked 52 hours last week and the next few weeks I will be working 46, if not more. Being able to get overtime is a wonderful thing.
Scrabble, scalloped potatoes and Simpsons. Sublime Sunday.
The early season Simpson DVD menus were so obnoxious!
