2024

Thursday: stayed up too late last night, and I followed it up with an early-morning dental appointment. (My first since moving to Philadelphia.) Despite not having a cleaning in more than 30 months, everything looks good! I couldn't remember whether Philadelphia has fluoridated water, so I agreed to the extra fluoride coating, which meant caking my teeth with a thick paste, and once I got home, I wasn't supposed to eat anything for 30+ minutes. I found the process unpleasant, and once my time was up, I had to go floss and pick at my teeth until all the lingering paste deposits were chipped out of my mouth.

After that was over with, Julie and I discussed how we'd handle lunch over my weekend. Because the cat snack supplies were low, I decided to go shopping today and bring back Taco Bell, and I can have my leftover Newbold sandwich half for lunch tomorrow. I wound up getting back to the apartment right at 1 PM, and Julie suggested that in the future, we should either have me go shopping specifically on Fridays, or at least go earlier in the day, because this was late enough in the day that she wasn't very hungry by the time she was supposed to eat before her bocce game. (I'm taking the time to write this out on here so that I'll remember to consider this next week.)

I had grand plans to spend my afternoon doing laundry, and vacuuming, and doing the dishes, but I misclicked on youtube and found myself diverted by a series of old game trailers and Nintendo Direct videos. Once Julie left for the start of her new bocce season, I reheated the last of the chili and finished my Hearthstone quests for the week. I wound up napping in the living room until she got home, after which I (eventually) did the dishes, then came in here to post this.

Tuesdsay: work continues, etc. The highlight for today was our trip to Tir na nÓg for trivia, where our team won first place. (I was kicking myself during the music round because I recognized the opening to Cowboy Bebop, but I couldn't place it. The fact that it didn't wind up mattering is only the slightest relief.) On the downside, Karly told us that she won't be running trivia at that location after September 26, and I don't think we can justify the trip out to Media on a weekly basis. At least we can still make the events over the next two weeks.

Once we got back home, I had to gather up the litter and start the laundry downstairs, since it's trash day. I posted this update, and then went on to play FFXIV for more Endwalker patch content and gearing. (First, I made a spreadsheet for Tomestones of Tenfold Pageantry rewards so I could track how many more I needed to collect and my percentage completion for the rewards I was interested in. I've obtained 26% of the rewards I'm seeking, and I still need another 920 tomestones for the rest of the rewards I really want; that's not counting the housing items I'd like if I had a use for them, but which I don't expect to make use of for years to come.) My main accomplishment was unlocking Aglaia, though I didn't have time to get in and try it out any, yet.
