Wednesday: a.k.a. my Friday! Got a little more sleep tonight, and my workday was unobjectionable. Julie and I have both sprang for the Happy Helper plan in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp to make the most of our last time with the game in multiplayer mode. She's got her boy Punchy helping her out, and while I would normally pick Tangy or Cherry, I decided to have Petri help me, and I decked her out in some sophisticated eyewear and chic black office attire. After a quick shower on my first break, I checked into the game long enough to finish the first half of the current gardening event. For lunch, I had the last of the salad and a slice of the sourdough Julie brought home the other day. I'd been making decent project progress, but the last chunk of my day was spent with one of my regulars reviewing a series of reservations with ongoing issues.
After work, Julie made dinner of spaghetti squash with feta cheese and tomatoes, which we ate while watching more Buffy, nearing the end of season 2. I had been trying to play Fallen London while we watched, but I think something went wrong with my laptop battery. It dropped from max charge down to 33%. I unplugged it and plugged it back into a different outlet, but now it's stuck at 49% regardless of what charger or outlet I use. I read a recommendation to delete the battery driver before installing all Windows updates and rebooting, but the percentage is unchanged afterwards. Probably need to take both this one and Julie's to a tech support company. Anyway, we finished watching, and now I'm finishing up my evening with a website update. Gotta say, the new color-coded editor at Neocities is pretty nice!
Monday: as expected, I was up at around 5 AM again and got right into FFXIV, where I had time to run one Praetorium instance before the servers went offline. While I fell short of my overall goal for tomestone collection, I had deliberately aimed higher than I really wanted, and I got out far better than most of the people gnashing their teeth on the subreddit. For somebody as new to the game as I am, there will always be more mounts and minions and orchestrion rolls to collect.
I started and finished last week's weekly project at work, and my contact said they'd have this week's data ready for me on Wednesday. We'll see.
We had tickets to see The Wombats at Union Transfer, so I had last night's leftovers before we left for the subway. It was standing room only, but we arrived early enough to stake out a couple spots where we could lean against the railing near the forward entrance to the auditorium. Julie commented that the opener (the Red Rum Club) was maybe the best opener we've seen; she might be right.
Things soured once the Wombats took the stage. A guy who'd wandered into the vicinity between sets finished his drink and made the night miserable for most of the people around him: he'd sway into people, reach over shoulders toward the stage, throw his head back so he could sweep his hair out of his eyes, yell along to the music, and jump like a maniac. I swapped places with Julie and eventually had to sort of shield her with my body—and good thing, because the dude backed into me, jumped on my feet four or five times, and at one point straight up leaned on me to let somebody pass in front of him. I probably should have just pushed him away to begin with, but after 20 minutes of this I realized my error and resituated him. We'll stick with concerts where we can get seats from now on, I think.
Sunday: I launched Sid Meier's Civilization V today, but I'm not sure if we actually played the game.

Saturday: stats today indicate that I drove 721 miles in September.
Friday: this was still the era of the "five dollar foot long" commercial from Subway. I disliked them.
